The latest issue of Best Car from Japan says they have scooped the 2L FR sports coupe from Nissan. The chief editor claims this is confirmed within Nissan and it is to be the revival of the popular Nissan Silvia.
The release schedule is in 2010 and price range should be around $17,000 to $21,000. The platform could be from the new Z. To keep this price range, the engine is said that it can come from Renault in France, Nissan's parent company. A Silvia with a Frenchy engine? Hmm, not quite sure now if the French can make an engine to match up the SR20DET? But hold on, the Renault Megane sport is packed with a turbo charged 2.0-litre motor that produces 225 bhp, allowing the car to achieve 0-100km/h in 6.5 s (0-60 mph in 6.3 s), with a top speed of about 240 km/h (150 mph). Maybe a cool affordable FR coupe in the making here...Look out for the S16 Silivia!
The cover also says that the Mazda RX-8 will undergo its first (big) minor change since its launch 5 years ago. You can see the front bumper and head lights have changed to a more sportier look. This new Mazda RX-8 will be on display at the coming Tokyo Auto Salon in January and sales will commence at the end of January.

I think it looks damn good, if they keep it looking like that they definitely got a winner on their hands.

God I really hope they put that into production, but I have a feeling that will not be the case...

But who knows, 3 years ago I was saying the same thing about the GTR so we'll have to wait and see.

Good info EJ2

Why? 225 isn't exactly terrible for a stock 2 Liter, Turbo or not.

I'm looking forward to this, but I was expecting it to at least match the S15's power. Truth be told, if it makes equal or more torque to the S15, I could give a sh1t about the HP. Either way, I can't wait to drive one.

The question is, will this be released in the states as a 240sx? It wont be equipped with a 2.4 ltr engine. Sure couldnt name it 200sx. So perhaps the Silvia badge will finally find its way to our shores.

we all know if it does come the US, it will have to share a motor with something. and it will probrably be a 2.5 from the altima etc.., maybe the better 2.5 out of the SpecV. that to me would be more logical from them. idoubt they would spend money on a whole new motor for the new 240.

2.5 as a base, and the sepcV 2.5 as the Se/Ser trim in the states. rwd turbo car in the states from nissan is highly doubtful....but it would be nice.

So a 250SX huh? I have longed for the day boost would return to US nissans. You're right, the QR25 is not boost friendly.
