Hey everyone! I need ideas. I want to get a project. Some sort of a Honda or Acura. I want to do a considerable amount of work to it so im talking about a motor swap or at least some serious performance work or a restoration of sorts. I want a dd as well as a show car in one. I suppose I wanna put a 10grand limit on the project. Use that figure to help me keep this within reason.

Thanks guys. reps for serious ideas!

Sounds cool, is it hard to find parts? Are they affordable?

Has this been done? If so link me, otherwise is there any particular reason why this car would be a good AWD conversion?

do a sol w/ 3sgte swap

I like del sols, I was considering some options like a RWD F20C powered one, but idk, seems difficult!

^^^ I'm with that one. Old S800 with S2000 swap, if you can find the S800 in the first place. They came from the factory with 70hp and were able to get up to 100 mph and still get 35 miles per gallon. So just think about that for a second, then think about adding another 160hp on top of that!

if interested in the first gen civic idea, this shop is in Statesville, NC:

I just had a thought - 1st off, the s800/s2k is gonna eat a 10k budget for lunch like it's a twinkie.

But after giving this serious thought, why build a car based on the opinions of people in a thread. The project should REALLY choose you -- that chassis should just leap out at you and beg you to build it. If there are no cars that speak to you in that way --- like you BELONG behind the wheel of it, then you're just spinning your wheels tryna keep up w/ other people.

You're absolutely right man, but Im starved for ideas right now. I'm gunna wait until the right opportunity comes up or when I've got my project decided on. Thx for ur opinions tho

Man - I have been in the scene for 14 years. There has been 3 DEFINITE times that I have been "in chill mode" -- watching things transpire from a distance. During those times I wondered if I was maturing, moving on from cars altogether. Each time that has happened, the subsequent projects took more time to build. I learned that I enjoyed the building process moreso than the finished product. Don't force it... relax, and just enjoy the things that you have accomplished. My best/fastest cars I do not even own anymore... but I can say that I have put together some decent sh1t in my day. One day u will wake up and pass by a car/truck and inspiration will hit you on its own.

It sounds like you've got it right man. The plan right now is to save my money , help my dad with a resto for the "great race" as a father-son thing. Then wait for the right project to come up. Im really thinkin that ill wait till this summer when I possibly work for Honda, where some idea should slap me in the face and ill open my wallet to it! lol;)
