Hey yall, after much debate, it looks like I won't be able to get the truck this time, but an older Mazda6 looks promising. I'm looking at 06 and older. I wont be back from Iraq till around may so I'm hopin prices drop even more. But, who drives one? Which one, and what are the pros and cons? I'm 6'3 so Im a little worried about that being an issue. Actually any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a friend who ownes one(2004 v6 iirc) and it's a pretty solid vehicle. He's around 6'1"-6'2" and has enough room. Styling is nice and the engine is giddy. It's been reliable and feels like a durable car. Another option could be a Legacy GT if you're into Subarus.

U'll be good, I'm 6'3" and I can easily clear the roof in my friends 05 Mazda 6, he has the V-6 S manual in black=HOTT :goodjob:
If ur gonna turbo it I suggest the 4 cyl...they don't make a turbo for the V6...
Pros...great looks and reliability
Cons...weak for a V6 (203-220HP depending on year) and below average gas mileage...

I own one. I have a 03, one of the first ones outta Cali. The big question is what are you plans for it. Based on that you can decide if you want the V6 or I4

Nismo

Get the v6 dont bother with the I4.

Dont listen to Nismo... He doesnt know anything he drives a tC lol... Look if you want to turbo it go wit the I4 but it you want to just slap on the usual I/H/E go wit the V6

the mazda owners are right, the 3.0 duratec v6, is a good motor . But as far as modding its ok, there arent alot of parts for them, past intake/header/exhaust. There is a few Fi setups for it, they take nitrous very well! But if u want to mod it than u are better of with the 4cyl, there are alot of parts for the 2.3duratec motor. But i couldnt see myself buying a 4cyl mazda6...lol

Thanks for the help. I think I'll be goin with the 4 cyl. I don't plan on messin with it right away, but maybe once I get a little more money I'll be able to play with it.

i say u test drive them both to be sure. the v6 is a nice reving motor. havent drove a car with the 2.34cyl in it so i cant say about that motor. but i cna say the v6 isnt a slouch, and seems more fitting for the car overall.

The MS6, isnt too far price wise, if u can afford one. they are about 20-22k nowadays..

If you're gonna go with the 4cyl have u thought about the Mazda 3? It has the same exact engine and transmissions but weighs over 400lbs less and it's much quicker than the 4cyl Mazda 6...and better gas mileage :goodjob:
And dont worry about your height I'm 6'3" and I have a sunroof which takes away 2 inches of headroom in the 3 and I don't hit the ceiling...just a thought...give them a look

I'm lookin at the 3's also, but they seem more expensive, and they look like there is less room in he back. But I do plan on driving them all when I get back stateside.

Well they're more expensive used b/c they hold their value better than the 6's...and the 3's are built at Mazda's Hiroshima Plant and the 6's are built in Chicago...should tell u something...lol...but yes the 3 is smaller over all b/c it's a compact and the 6 is a midsize sedan.

only reason the 6 is built in chicago, is because it shares the same platform as alot of ford/volvo/mercurys
