I use M2G(movie to gif) 3.1 its free, not many features but it works good to make sigs and stuff.

Try using ActiveGIF v4.5. It's pretty simple and it has way more features then M2G.

i know photoshop and image ready is expensive.. but it is possible to get the bootleg (since im sure NO ONE does that, lol, and im not condoning it but its possible).

just make an image in photoshop, each layer is a different slide, convert it to image ready and you can use the animation pallete and do all kinds of stuff.

Why don't you condone it? Software patents are flawed in logic, IMO.
