a strong ass motor? I have heard of a few people doing this before, but never actually seen the finished product. Has anyone on here ever encountered this? If so, is it really a good combo, and strong motor? Thanks.

B20VTEC as its commonly referred to.
Its a decent setup, makes good TQ , not alot of HP comes from it, BONE STOCK they make around 150-160whp.
with bolt ons 170s is possible.
has all the same problems as an LSVTEC, rods are weak so dont rev it, small valve reliefs so cant run big cams etc.

That was what I was wanting to know, thanks. I have been thinking about this set-up for my ef. I am taking my ZC out in a few days, and I want to to something sick to go back in.....ideas?. Mind you, that I am not really that knowledgble in Hondas.
Also on the head, I was told that a B16 head would work?

b20's aren't anything special though... I wanna see a 13B in a fwd civic...lol that'd make my day, you'd get like 13 rep points at least

I think if you spend some extra cash and know how to build it right, it can't hurt you that much but then again, might as well just do a GSR Swap instead.

B20vtec isn't for the weak hearted.
Besides all the trouble of actually assembling the motor and building it right, the wiring itself is a tough job.
If you want to know more, I just happen to know this guy who has a similar setup in his CRX, so he knows everything you need to know to get it to run...:ninja:.
Honsetly, since you have already stated that your not that knowledgable with hondas, a GSR would be a better investment. Less mechanical work, and it's ready for you to just drop in. A B16 would be nice as well, but gsr is the way to go if you want vtec.
if you just want a b-series, then get an ls, or a B20Z. In an EF, a non-vtec b-series will feel very strong.:goodjob:

I have thought about a GSR swap, but everyone has it. I want something different. I love my Zc, but time for change . What about a H22 swap in the EF?
edit: I am now leaning towards a b-series non-vtec.
Thanks to everyone who posted some serious light on the topic.

The b20 block has weak a$$ cylinder sleeves. You should just buy a b18b block or b18a block(for like $200) and get golden eagle to resleeve it to 84mm. Put a b16a head or b18c head on there also. Get some CP pistons and Eagle rods. And then just boost the hell out of it.lol.

Lol all the ideas running through my mind now. Either way the ZC is coming out soon, I have a spare D16a6, that has nothing wrong with it, when it goes in. I have a "stage 2" clutch, and 7lb fidanza flywheel, and whole new exhaust ready for it. So the Zc is going to be rebuilt. I want to go N/A with it. So I am going to dump mula in the ZC. Thanks everyone.

ehhwww...
close but no cigar... ...:ninja:
I'm pretty sure it was a b16 head. And I don't think he's had a crx for a couple of months now...
But, B20vtec FTMFW!
Don't build your zc, man. Just buy an ls or b20 and do the standard I/H/E upgrades... Then, once you've gotten used to that power, then go with a gsr or b16 head.

I know a guy that could run a 14.5 sec in a integra with a stock B20 and LS trans.
They are good, CHEAP(affordable) motors that have nice torque, and do wonders for boring daily drivers.
They also are great with boost stock! Stock b20z with t3/t4(ebay) running 13psi!

If you decide on a jdm b20 than get the b20b 99-00 spec. The C/R is 9.6:1 and they are rated at around 148 HP, 136 Ft/lbs TQ. Good a$$ torque for a honda, huh? Pretty sweet deal for only $800. Just don't go turbo it. If you do resleeve it and throw in some forged pistons and rods. They only made the b20b in japan, the b20z was made in the U.S. from 99-00. The b20b 96-98 are rated 126 HP, 133 ft/lbs TQ.
