Everybody knows 240sx are very popular in the drifting scene around the world, but are 240sx popular among autocross, drag, and track day type events? Because of the drifting scene makes me wonder if 240sx has a problem with traction for a good amount for things like circuit. I'm no car wizard. Any words?

You can tune a 240 to be pretty good at just about everything. In 2006 there was an s13 in the top 10 of the scca autocross nationals. It was the only car in STS that was not a ef hatch. They have no traction problems, you can get any car to slide around with the right setup. In the early 90s they raced them in IMSA and they did pretty good in GTU.

like plv was saying, there was a 240 in my class last year (STS) that won nationals. the money put into that car was kinda a lot but the cars can be made very fast. I have also seen 240's made into Improve Touring A cars (ITA) which are pretty much stock motors with coilovers and race tires and are extremely fast.

When setting up a car its all about suspension. That is the part of the car where u want to get the best parts possible and the saying "you get what you paid for" is very true. i have the exact setup for a 240 that the guy that won nationals has and what suspension parts he used. pm me about it...

...AND those IT 240's use SOHC K motors.

And the you get what you pay for is not ALWAYS true ;).

Trust me 240's have no traction issues you need power to have that lol.

But comparing with all the other cars, do you think it takes more effort and money to perform up to par using the same amount average another car might?

actually there are some 240sx circuit cars out there, spec S14, and even club car 240 in the scca. I don't think there is a problem with traction, nico and zilvia members did many circuit cars.

Thats what a ITA 240 is, a SCCA race car.

no, its a much cheaper platform to work with than most perfomance oriented cars. might not be as cheap as the ef hatch, but still cheap lol.
