The V dub. By far that car can go a long way. The svt has a slightly better tranny but thats about it.

i think like 180hp? but you can easily get a hell lot more out of it with pretty simple upgrades

u know the 2 put out almost the same power. the svt isnt really fast stock, i drove my friends for a week (yellow 04 euro svt). it moves good for stock, but not impressive. But i was coming from driving a modified turbo car to the svtf..lol so taht might have played a big part. but the car has alot of aftermarket ALOT! the svt 2.0 is a very very stout motor, awhole lot better thant the regular 2.0 zetec. Its a completly rebuilt version by cosowrth and svt. its a very boost friendly motor as well.
good info on the svt motor!

if u do get one make sure id choose the euro version.. nicer wheels/hid's/

BUT!! if i had to choose id probrably go with the vdub.. but i got a fear of them, i hear too many bad stories of them and their repairs!

im willing to bet they oth are about the same speed wise..

VW all the way...I would tell you to buy the focus in europe but not in the state.

I'm a Ford man all the way but the only way U go with the SVT is to stay all motor and get the COSWORTH crate motor($$$). The 1.8t is already boosted (and better TQ)so you are ahead of the game. the VW is alot nicer on the inside as well.

If i was pullin the motor out of a svtf, id put a duratec 3.0 in it... :goodjob:

The actual Euro ST's and SVTs are often Turbocharged depending on year and trim (Not the US "Euro" versions mind you). And use the same block for the 4-cylinder we do. Of course it's boost happy.

As far as V-W's and repairs, the horror stories come from people who take their car to the first mechanic they drive past and expect a big repair bill, and they get it. If you take it to someone who specializes in German or European cars, they will tell you that for the most part VW's are not any harder to work on or find parts for than a domestic. It's a full 50% having the correct tools and knowledge to work on the car, something people in Europe often lament about American cars over there with.

get the Dub... i've owned both cars and Ford = crap... for what it would take to make the SVT faster then the 1.8t you could of just bought and Audi/BMW... buy the 1.8t add GIAC X+ and you will not even remember thinking about buying a SVT. If you we had Cosworth Focus or euro turbo models i would say buy that but we don't.

end of story.

ps. my stock turbo 1.8t made 225whp/290lbs and did 13's in the 1/4

a family member has an svt focus and it has had the whole engine harness replaced among other things..... it handles really well but is a pain in the ass overall.

ps. alot of the engine parts are different one time when ford tried to get a bracket it took them 4 tries to get the right one..... just something to think about.

only if that is the RS focus in Europe. Otherwise, vw is the way to go.

1.8T like everyone else said...APR chip that b*tch and boost to 17psi on stock internals, sooo much better and more satisfying than the Fcukus

probrably not...lol
id pick the vw, but still the svt focus's has a great boost friendly motor, its a pretty much completly forged motor.

ther noth nice cars, i just think the vw wins b/c it already is boosted. I also think that the svt's seats arentthat comfortable as they should be... :( .. but they look nice.
