Alright guys and gals
I need a shop that can put a 235/45/17 tire on a 17x10 wheel.
Ive been to 8 different shop and not one of em can do it.
Ive been getting pwned all day long. :idb: Does anyone know
someone that can do it? Or at least a shop with a bead blaster.
It'd be great if they were south of Atlanta, but i dont mind traveling.....

Is that even possible? Get some that fit the wheel!

Why would you want to do that? Is that even possible?

If I'm not mistaken, that's like 3-4 sizes too narrow for that wheel.

Nah, you can do it.

I've seen 215s on a 17x10.

Sorry I have no recommendations.

well I guess i just opened pandora's box, but there are many reasons. In germany folks put stretched tires on wide wheels because of the stretched look, but also because there is a law in germany that says you can't have tires going past your fender. But its manly for asthetic purposes. The japanese drifters do it because it enhances side wall stiffness that is essential for high speed drift control. And they like the look too....

lolololol looks more like water...... big tires dont mean no curb rash, good driving equals no curb rash.

try 225 instead of 215, i think people will do that.
There is too much stretch for 215 on 17*10

i did this on my older 240, took the wheel off, and naturally laid it on the ground to work on my brakes...clink, nothing but rim hit the ground! i like my tires to be slightly wider for that very reason!

never even knew that was possible, either way it sounds stupid, should just get tires that fit. unless you like the look of a stretched tire

i think it looks worse than when people buy wheels and the offset has the outside of the wheel sticking 5 inches out the side the fende

It's big in Europe, as already stated because Germany has a law making it so that the tire can't go past the fender (Also one of the reason why widebody is so popular there) so if you want deep-dish rims you go for the stretched look to stay compliant. It has some performance benefits such as stiff sidewalls for high-speed control, but also has some downsides, like lower contact patch for a heavier wheel. I don't know of anyone that would do it though, if you know of a Butler tire though, go and see if they will. The one nearest me has done some weirder stuff before, so they might be willing to try it. The shops are just afraid you're gonna shred your tire and sue them when you have a blowout. See if you can get them to do it by signing a liability waiver.

i will say this i think it looks good. def. on older vw's but i still like my tires to come out just farther the rim. put some pics up when you get them on your car id like to see it better. try calling fayette tire they may do it they help me and some of my buds out on tires.

what the hell is the point of running wider wheels if you are using tires that are only as wide as stock wheels??? The whole point of using wider wheels (from a performance standpoint) is so that you can use wider tires, which equals more contact area between rubber and road. Who gives a **** what it looks like. Its pointless. Reminds me of the old 10" tall, 10" wide 100 spoke wire wheels with 6" wide tires that mexicans used to put on geo's and such back in the day (1990's). It looked stupid then, and looks stupid now.

Stretched tires = 100% fag rice.

^2. buy tires that fit your wheels.

you dont get stiffer sidewalls, you get no sidewalls. your car is gonna handle like crap. and have fun with the ATL potholes.

I don't see ricers with this. I see guys with European cars doing this. Quite often, actually.
