Meh. So it'll be a fast car. Supercharged 6.2 liter V8. Huge brake discs. I'm...just not excited over it like I would be if Nissan would announce a new small 2-door RWD platform even if it had a naturally aspirated engine.

I remember the 1990 ZR-1, My dad had the first one in Florida when they first came out (And paid dealer cost at that, he had connections) and MY GOD this by far blows ANY Vette ever made away. Supercharged at 620hp and a body that kills!! WOW!!!

i just read some posts in there...it is true that to a untrained eye this will no look like a 100k vett. Performance wise...yea this will kick butt, but i'd rather take my 100k and put it towared a Ford GT.

And have a slower, worse performing car with lots of bugs (or so I have heard).
Also, the article says that it will have at least 620HP, which leaves the possibility that there could be more ponies in store.

But then you're still getting trampled on by $70,000.00 Corvettes. If you're going to spend $100,000 at least buy a Porsche. Then you can at least get chicks will you're getting passed by Corvettes. :D

don't get me wrong...i am all for this car best bang for the buck. I will smoke lots of cars hands down, and if i was in for performance only....i'd pick this car in a heart beat, but if i am gonna be spending 100k i want some eye candy too a car that will look like 100k. I know average guy won't using it's 620+hp everytime he is gonna drive it. Ford gt will should easily satisfy my hunger.

seems like vett is playing the civic game....pump it up make it faster and cheaper than competition, it will be NICE, but in the end it's still a civic. Don't take my opinion in the wrong direction. Car's bad ass hands down.

lol @ gtr.
we'll see how this one does on the track.
what kill me tho, is this...
They started with turbochargers for efficiency's sake, but switched to supercharging when Eaton unveiled its latest four-lobe Roots-type blower. This new unit boasts thermal efficiency of nearly 76 percent (up from some 60 in the best three-lobe blowers) -- near turbo efficiency with no lag.

sunni i have to disagree with your opinion as you last stated... a civic was introduced as an econobox. a vette was introduced as a sports car. it's known as a fast car from the factory, not a car people TRY to make fast, thus giving it a different legacy. lol i totally agree with you on "lol its still a civic" but "its still just a vette" somehow doesnt arise the same laughter

lol as i said...if i was getting a car for performance...then forget GT...i'd pick Zr1 in a heart beat. If i ever buy a Porsche new, it would be something rare. Other than that Used 996 Turbo FTW....not new because they don't hold their value for shiit. Man you crazy...i'd toss a chick outta my car if i am running a ZR1 by simply saying "Sorry you are just extra weight." lol

i know it's still a vette...something still no civic can dream of being...not even Civette. I wasn't putting both cars in same category, rather i was just saying the idea sounds similar. Aite let me kill civic talk before a i get jumped on by a civic owner.

The GTR is a joke. But hey, it's not my money. I don't care if you spend $80k to go slower and look like a spaceship.
When all of you people that say "my money is in the GTR" actually buy one, let me know. I'll be gentle.
Edit: Corvettes still get plenty of female attention.

awww man....that thing is sweet. Everyone that says they would rather have a GTR is retarded....but thats just my opinion. Why? The GTR performs almost as well as this and its about half of this price tag, which is gonna be upwards of $120k. Not saying this is not a sweet, well performing car or anything, but if i can get something that does almost the same thing for half price, i'll take it. Cause you will never see that $120k ever again in life, even if you bought it and let it sit in your garage for 50 yrs and only took it out when it was sunny between 70 and 90 degrees outside

i have to disagree with you as well, but in 2 parts. first the gtr has a base tag of right at 80g's. now you know full well that the dealers will jack the price up at least 15g's just because they can. the zr1 is looking right around the 100g's price tag. even if they jack it up by the same amount, your equasion of half the cost is inaccurate.
furthermore, if you're spending 80-95g's on a pure performance car because you want something that is going to destroy all else ont eh road, why wouldnt you spend the extra 5 g's to get something that will be faster/handle better?
just conversing. carry on.

just conversing. carry on.Mainly cause it might not see a track much at all. Normal people who buy this car arent gonna take it to a track and beat up on it all the time everyday. Thats when street comfort come into play. That ZR1 will probably have none. especially with 335/20/20 rubber bands on the back, you are basically riding on wheels.

The only thing I can really say that I dont like about top gear is that they always bash american cars. I dont remember them saying this though. I do know that Jeremy was flipping out at the fact that the c6 zo6 can do 0-170+ in 1 gear.

ZR1 is the car for that cost if wanted for that purpose.
