Spaced Hood.....Why??

Other than trying to cool the engine....or attempting to make extra space under the hood....or for looks....Why would someone want to space their hood??:???:

or if you want the "drifter" look, which is most of the people i see with it. as most of the cars you see with it have never seen 1 second of actual track time.

Someone told me that i needed to space my hood, because the strut bar that i have doesnt allow perfect hood clearance. I have a Sunfire. Should i space the hood a little?

hm, ive drove around with all sorts of crap under the hood in my race car on the streets and never had a single issue. Its just gay an inefficient for the lines on your car body in my opinion.

i think when you swap in a zc into an EF you can either raise the hood or do some cutting for clearance issues... but im not 100% on that

Do what you want - it's your car. If u have a swap that doesn't quite fit w/ certain suspension/handling pieces - then do it. It's been happening every since there were cars - and the muscle guys used NO HOOD, or hideous scoops back in the day. It's a new(er) age way of creating space, and a side benefit of a little more heat release. It's not gay, it's functional (if u really do need it). Bodloy-lines are not always the forefront of everyone's mind.

but seriously, have you had any problems with closing the hood? Are you thinking about putting a massive blower on the car? if yes, possibly do something with the hood. Otherwise, a scratch on the inside of the hood is fine, no need to screw up the body lines of that car even more

I do it because there is a **** load of underhood heat w/ the turbo, and my turbo intake pulls underhood air.

What more benefit do you need? Cooling the engine and making more space are two very good reasons by themselves.

This is almost as retarded as me asking you why people install cold air intakes on their car if the only benefit is a few more horsepower.

If there is a legitimate purpose to a modification then what other benefit do you need?

i have my hood lifted like that and it helps cool it down alot...i can see steam coming out when im at a red light...its also for looks though
