It's a fat boy - and those numbers are not that great for a V6 considering a Spec V is 14.80 capable stock - and it has a 4CY 2.5L/175hp (most dyno 152 - 153whp WHP). I would love to see a fully bolted one + sticky tire plus spray. I do like how they look dropped w/ wheels - but I only like the black ones for some reason.

i used to own one , it was a great car, great power, handled amazing. Its really a european ford, down to the 4x108 bolt pattern.
I lvoed the way mine looked, and drove. but workin in the engine bay isnt fun at all. But it isnt the worst. It has a few things that need to be changed or upgraded over time liek the tranny to the LSD tranny, and it will last like it should! I sold mine last year to a young guy in loganville, he blew the motor in it street racing... last i heard it was sitting inthe garage.. i wold love to buy it back.. :(

edite only made 5 speed SVT

and idk i think svt only did the body mainly and just a lil on engine with chips and shyt

but yeah a spec v thats just nissan power lol

and well im debating on what would be better my SE-R or the SVT ???

1. not a 4cyl.. its a 6cyl duratec
2. Svt has, extrude honed IM/cams/bigger TB engine wise..
theymake good power with bolt-ons, but there is really no great aftermarket for them. most upgrade to the 3.0duratec, and spray it or boost it..

SE-R plus swap (better) SE-R bolt ons plus time and cash spent ()

SVT money spent wisely (good)

now don't get me wrong i'm a nissan guy to the core... but a swapped SE-R will walk the doggy on that HOWEVER if you don't plan on swapping it you're pretty much S.o.L on beating that thing with bolt ons...

mods, ur very limited unless u got money..
headers/ exhausts/intake is abotu all ur gonna get with a reasonable amount spent. LSD tranny is a great upgrade.
3.0 swap isnt too pricey either.

About reliability its a real reliable car, nemesis still has his cougar, which has the same 2.5v6 as the se contour, and hes been runnin it on a 75shot for atleast 2-3 years. and the car still runs great, and has perfect compression. His was a auto and i think got a 14.1 out of it with headers/75shot/Svt IM.. he would have been well into the 13's with a 5spd tranny.

i had no issues with mine at all. They did have issue with the water pumps, on the pre-98 years ( i believe) but it was b/c they used plastic impellers, but they upgraded to metal ones after 98. other than the water pump issues they are very reliable. But if u plan on beating up on it, the tranny is something that you owuld have to invest in..its strong, but doesnt take abuse.

you plannin on gettin one?

well id keep the 2.5 till it kicked the bucket but i mean I dont use spray that kills the life span by like 10 years on a car lol

YOU ARE SMOKING CRACK if you think an SVT will turn w/ a stock SPEC V!!! AND THEY HAVE A SOLID REAR AXLE!!!! AND it will wear the SVT out in the 1/4 as well - 14.79 stock (dropped front tire pressure) is what people are getting in the 03+ Spec V.

ok now what could a stock b13 with intake and TP do with a svt ?

I had a 95 SE Contour. 24 V V6, 5 speed. Ok it was a first year model but I went through 2 "Duratec" V6s. Yes the car was on its third engine by 30k miles. Something to do with high rpm oiling problems. Mabye that was fixed on the SVT but even Automobile Magazine had their V6 fail in a test car. Also had transaxle issues the dealer could never fix it popping out of 2nd gear so they finally replaced the gear box.

Ok for the good. Super handling. I had 18x7.5 rims with 215/40 ZR Yokohama AVS tires and it handled great. Also ran great on the highway and you could def. feel the euro tuning for the autobahn from it's european sister the Ford Mondeo.

Even with the problems I had with the first model year I don't regret having one for two years. I would pick up an SVT if I was looking for a 4 door sedan. They are great values for the money.

b13 would have it's hands full in the 1/4 w/ the SVT I'm pretty sure. (i was referring to b15). But it'll (b13) turn better than the SVT. B13 has a solid rear axle as well - so it doesn't make sense, but it's true. I will try to dig up some numbers.

im talkin about a b13, and the svt contour/mondeo was one of the best handling cars in its time, still out handles alot of cars out today. ive driven both, and i can tell u, the svt would take it ont eh track.

svt and the ser have just about equal skidpad number, svt was between .86-90, and th eser was at .86... go test drive one.. if u can find one at a dealer..i loved it when i test drove mine...

If you want a cheaper two door Coupe version. Just buy a MTX-75 Cougar and the parts from a junked SVT. They are all compatiable.

I looked for a SVT Contour for a little while. I never found anything that jumped out as a glaring issue. I talked to a couple of owners, too, and they didn't have anything negative to say about the car.

Check this out (http://www.contour.org/) for more info.
