Iv been trying to decide what to do for awhile, iv had a b16a2 in it with bolt ons and i was pretty happy with it. I then built a ls/vtec and blew it up. Now I want something reliable but fun. Maybe a low 14sec dd. What could i build that wont cost nothing to far over a $1,000. LMK what has worked good for u. By the way its going in my 97 hatch. +REPS for input :goodjob:

b16s are gay, produce no power whatsoever but the vtec head pops hard. gsr is good for the money but it still doesnt satisfy me. i rather do a h swapped and call it a day lol

k20 or b20 vtec...if you built the b20 vtec right it'll be as reliable as any motor

Do Nitrous for 500, and the other 500 port and polish or aggressive cam like skunk2 sage II cam, it almost the same as ctr cams but have a little more duration or lifting(forgot)
get you, your 14sec in no time!!!

for $1000 your options are pretty limited. You may be able to find a B18C1, but for that price it would probably not be in the best condition. You may be able to get a B18B and a do it yourself turbo kit for about $1500.... thats the only way you will be able to get into the low 14's with less than $2k.

build the b16 block if you dont wanna spend more than $1000, high compression pistons, with new rods.

If you still have all the b series stuff, buy a h22 long block, and a H2B kit .:goodjob: It will be a little more then 1000 but you would be alot happier, and i think it would make it alot easier to sell if you wanted to sell it.

I forgot to add you can sell the b series stuff you dont need for the swap to help pay for the H22 and the H2B kit:goodjob:

save your $1000 untill you have $3500 and buy a nice turbo kit and get tuned with what you already have. $1000 aint gonna pay for anything if you wanna build a motor...you might be able to pay to get your block sleeved for that much

The easier way would be just turbo what you have. The harder way is GSR and then turbo. The hard way is H22A and turbo. The hardest way will be a HEMI.
I have talked to a Honda guy, which had a B16A and B18B. He says the HP are about the same, but the B18B pulls better cause the extra displacement. The B16 make about the same HP only because it revs more. So do not limit yourself with less displacement. Another guy told me LS/Vtec with turbo is the way to go, but never driven one so I cannot help you much with that.
