Hey guys, this is the first car forum I've ever subscribed to and I'm hoping to get info on tuning and local car events, and just get more into the car scene in general. I've been fortunate enough to inherit a 1998 Acura 3.5 RL, which I've been driving for about 6 months now. I acknowledge how great a car it is but the car-guy in me yearns for speed, so I'm looking to buy something with a bit more tuning potential. I'm on a college budget though (GO JACKETS!), so I'm looking for something less than $2000 (I've been looking at EG Civic hatchbacks, gen 1 Miatas, and S12 or S13 240SX's). If anyone has any advice on what car to get or where to get started as a tuner, I'm all ears. Thanks guys!

Like I said, I think the RL is a great car and I am planning on keeping it around as a daily driver (plus I can't sell it because it's not technically mine). When I get a real job, I plan on putting a sound system in it (GPS/DVD head unit, replace all speakers, 2X12" subs), replacing any old/broken parts and driving it for a long time.

You should dyno the RL. That motor is rated at around 210hp, right? Plus it's a beautiful car and it drives like a dream. Nice mix of crispness and cush.

if u r really looking for speed, miata won't have much but the handling is pretty good IMO.
