I just gotten back from Iraq and bought this 2002. Here are some pics from what it did look like and now. When I got it, it was pretty much stock except for a cut grill, stainless braided brake lines, Prodrive wing, uppipe and downpipe. Since then I have installed:

JIC Fully Adjustable Coilovers
17" BBS Gold Wheels
3" Turbo Back Exhaust
STI Top Mount Intercooler
STI VF39 Turbo
Perrin Intercooler Kit
Perrin Turbo Inlet
Burschur Racing Intake
STI Pink Injectors
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
ATI Gauge Cluster
Boost/Oil Pressure Gauges
WINGLESS!
And Had Scott at Topspeed tune the car with ECUTEK and 19lbs...

It is def. a nice car. I enjoy driving it far better than my civic. Well.. dont comment on that last one. Traction is nice! Enough said. I am def. addicted to the madness now. The car is where i want it for power right now because I want to get it as close to cosmetic perfection before i drop money on a block and turbo upgrade.

Future Plans:
Larger Hood Scoop
Sway Bars
Hella Horns
Shave the trunk lid and spray the front bumper and side skirts.

Other than that I appreciate all who looked! Thanks again to those of you who have helped so far with this build and purchasing some of my old parts!

Haters... STAY OUT!

It is the turbo xs but it seemed to not leak. I had heard that they were prone to leaking. I will eventually run a 50/50. But other than that thanks for the comments!

about the tranny... It had a new tranny put in it approx. 14 months ago and about 15k miles. It seems to be fine but after it blows.. I will prlly go with the RA gear set. I hear its a good upgrade w/o braking the bank!

Don't waste youre money on the RA gearset...start saving for a 6 speed.

what he said.

More importantly don't waste your money on a wrx...either buy a sti or a GC8 with an STi swap.

welcome aboard man....very nice bug eye. Vf39 is plenty to have fun on the street...no need to upgrade. Be very nice to that tranny and you'll be good. How much hp was scott able to tweak out of the setup? STi 6spd or PPG dogbox is the best option for new tranny...they do have a hefty price tag, but very much worth it. Just be nice to the 5spd for now, save up, then sell the 5spd while it's intact...you can fetch 1k (vs. $200 for a broken one) for it then use that money toward a better tranny....best option.

Once again, clean Bugeye.....

Truegiant
11-27-2007, 05:10 PM
thanks for all the comments... Def. no need to save up for an STI when you can build a wrx for cheaper! And I like the bugeye.... other than that PEACE!

exactly what i first thought, i'm sure you know to treat you're tranny with care, and i'm also interested in what kind of numbers that setup puts out

I will be getting one of Nitro's HID kits here in the near future ;) (christmas byatches) - hey brad... go freak yourself on the STI lookalike comment :goodjob: :taun: , Scott said estimated numbers are 275-280whp/300ish wtq... He did all my tuning on the road since that is where it will see all its life! Other than that, thanks for the comments.. and the reps are appreciated!

Anyone know approx. what it cost to have the holes in the trunk where the wing was shaved and painted?

auxiliary
11-29-2007, 11:46 AM
Check on subaru forums to see if you can trade trunk lids with someone. That may be the easiest.

Truegiant
11-29-2007, 04:09 PM
most everyone wants to trade a wrx stock trunk with wing.. when i had the wing before. So... Until I can get mine done I guess..

atlxpat
11-29-2007, 04:13 PM
i've heard of some ppl getting spaces and fitting it over the holes, shave it down to make it leveled and i forgot the rest, either fiberglass, bondo? idk maybe something else and then you paint over it

but yea swapping trunks with someone is much easier

did you sell that custom front bumper/air dam setup you had on it? I will try and help you find some parts if i can. Did you figure out what your next project is going to be? I found another sweet deal on another gutted wrx that needs an engine. Its a rolling chassis with just a drivers seat and a guage cluster/ 1/2 dash. Its pretty neat looking and I think i can get it on trade. I'm thinking custom widebody/ time attack setup. I will let you know when we need to do a porsche setup for it.. hehe!

I wanted a bugeyed wagon to put an LS2 in, thought it would make a fun lil project but then i saw Topspeeds Brighton...Mmm sexy.

My next project can be found in the Pics forum titled "E30 ///Monster Concept" ...something along the lines of a Group A rally car.

I am thinking of some 5mm spacers or so on the front and rear of my new wheels with the extended studs and new lugs.. do you think 5 front and 10 rear? I want to increase my track width and also stick the wheels a little further out in the well!

I installed my new clutch over the weekend and in to today. The feel of the pressure plate and clutch engagement is not horrible. I am still waiting on JIC to send me aprice quote on where/who i can order the dampening tools from. Other than that I have to wait the "standard 500 miles" before beating on the new clutch to bad.. anywho..
