i was online today thinking about buying a dc2 type r 5 lug for my hatch when it hit me why pay a grand or so when i could possibly just use one from a newer car that has 5 lug im wondering if anyone has ever done this to a ef before and if so how difficult would it be? Would the cost of all the parts needed be close to just buying a dc2r full disc swap? ive had this idea for a while and ive talked to ben about what my car will look like in the near future i had a quick ps done just to show it off a bit but im not sure i like it like i thought i would anyway enjoy the ps and please lets discuss this and not let it get too far :offtopic:

my plan was to put my ef on 1st gen s2k wheels

so what would be the cost on those?

besides being a talking point, there's no point in 5-lug on an EF.

i see your point jeff but it does open up alot of different wheel choices

i will say this honda makes baller oem wheels

but all of the really nice wheels out on the market are not 4x100 i just want some options

If the parts can be gathered on the cheap, I would definetly do it.
Better wheel selection and very rarely seen.

5-lug = added weight

5-lug = added weight

How much weight would it add?
20 pounds at most?

It wouldn't be enough to see a difference.

its a pretty mediocre upgrade none the less

i guess me and cato are the only ones that see the good point in having 5 lug on a hatch

And BlackR, seeing as he has done it.
His hatch is pretty badass, just needs to be a little bit quieter.

who cares about the 5 lugs... i would consider that a bonus and the main reason id wanna do the swap is for 4 wheel disk brakes.

how much is the swap....well the parts?

i havent figured that out yet im still looking into a way of getting a 5 lug at the not so jdm price buy using a usdm car like the accord like emmino said

You could just do a DA brake swap. If you just want disk brakes.
Its much cheaper than a 5-lug swap.

And this is coming from a guy that did a glass roof conversion :lmfao:

If you're doing this to stand out and for a better wheel selection, its a good ideal. Holla at Black R because he has 5 lug on his EF

no he was just saying that you could do the da brake swap if you just want disc brakes the type r is 5 lug and it would give you a better selection of wheels and offsets

i mean i understand that type-r is 5 lug and all that and a DA is just a reg teggy. but is the.... shape, bolt position,....the whole damn assembly the same? just one is 4 lug one is 5

umm if your asking me that im not sure but i wouldnt think the type r would have like massive brake rotors but can you imagine just rollin up some where with some rims on your hatch that nobody is gonna have i mean i love my si's but if i could get some sick volks or some really nice mugens i would in a heart beat i love being different my teg is the best rep for that

SL65AMG

^^^ that would be pretty sick.

if you find a swap or two let me know.

for me it was a no-brainer b/c i had all the parts laying around anway.

braking is very important for track days/ autox although I'm sure you could get by with better pads and 4-lug. i always hated the rear drums though too.

the itr calipers are of course bigger, and so are the rotors - besides I just wanted to see if I could swap over the itr abs - so anybody who thinks they can outbrake me is welcome to step up, wet or dry. :)

What do you consider "nice"? i'm getting 10.2 lbs 15" forged wheels in 4x100. I'd consider that prety damn nice.

I haven't done a whole lot of shopping in 5 lug, so I'm a lil ignorant when it comes to that....so would you mind listing some examples please?

The market for 4x100 wheels are reducing (not including knockoff brands like rota and such) because alot of new cars are coming stock with 5 lug. Also lot of badass older JDM rims are 5x100 because of the the 4x100 market was small.
