hey everyone. i am currently a owner of a 99 civic DX. i have put way to much money in the motor that is in my car currently. so i have finaly smartened up. i want to do a swap to eather a B18b or a b16. i dont know witch one yet. i have found a place in FL that does the fill swap for close to 4000. and they have a 2 year waranty and no motor has over 50k miles. i think that is a good deal. if anybody knows of a better deal i can come across let me know.

thanks,

Curbow_USMC

Why do Honda guys pay so much for motors?Reliability and simple repairs & maintenance...it wasn't until 5 years ago or so when honda engines and parts started getting really expensive.

Swaps are weekend projects especially if they are a perfect fit. Except,...cough...cough when you run into tranny problems.

Welcome, i think.

oh and that swap is ok INCLUDING labor, i would say go for the b16...strong motor, unless you plan on doing extra to that b18b...i.e turbo....but yeah i help my friend put a new b16a in his car in oen weekend...wiring is the tricky part

weekend project?! naw, we've pulled them in under 2 hours (no cutting!) and installed in 2 hours...making sure you have the right mounts is the main problem. Wiring is simple, if it's a SI anyways...just need to run 2 wires for the O2 sensors and 1 for the coolant switch...if its a DX or HF then you'll have to convert the entire harness to SI first then add the above. Of course that's using a hydraulic lift :-)

well as of now. i am paying 2 car payments, 2 loan payments, apt bill, power, cable, net. food for 2. and i'm only an E-3. i do have a little money left over, that is how i am slowly saving for the swap. but there is no way i could save for a K20 and get it with in a year.
