I'd stay away from the short shifters, they just tend to cause synchro problems. The best thing I've found is to take a skyline shifter, knock the plastic bushing off the bottom and use that. Its real direct feeling but still all stock goodness. I've got one if you want it. I'll check on the turbo to MAF piping, do you still have the stock MAF or are you using a Z32 because it will matter.
