I asked this question on another thread, that had to do with QD.

So, here it is. What exactly are these "rep points"?

Are they to separate the noobs from the older members? Of course, I've seen some 07 members who have acouple of those green block. Do they represent your online status, or weather you're cool or not? Like my intro thread said, I've been on other car forums but this has been the only one with people who seem to really care about them.

Could anyone help a noob out?

You should see a few of the forums I've come across. They have REP ME threads almost every day. Some of those folks have over a million rep points. But they're also able to give +200,000, also. The points are set at much higher increments. Later, QD.

the little old school scale on the upper right hand side of each post. you click it and gives you the option of giving someone reps. or taking them away. the longer you are a member and the more posts you have effect the weight of your rep points. i have 5 green bars and still can only give or take away 1 pt. so i dont really know when it changes.

the reps just give everyone some kind of e-power. whether you think it does or not, it affects most people. maybe not in a big way, but it just holds the forum together a little more. i think it's a good idea just because people try really hard to get them haha (not excluding myself). thats my :2cents:
