Ok so here is the deal im in a serious need of a rebuild I currently have a b16a2 in my civic. I just recently bought a ls motor to do a ls/vtec build but I dont know if I should do that or just rebuild the b16 or build the ls and go with it any info on previous lsvtec setups or all motor ls builds? thanks for the feedback:goodjob:

For allmotor you're always gonna want that extra bore and stroke from the LS bottom end!! Believe me when I say I'm a GSR man myself but the B16 is gonna be real hard to pull any real torque numbers out of it allmotor. Hell they're even hard to pull decent torque numbers out of boosted.
You'll have a car w/ good hp and torque if you build a good LS/VTEC. You'll never be able to pull anywhere close to the same amount of torque out of your B16 if you do the same build on the LS block.
You could always use a stroker kit for the B16 block but that's a serious waste of money if you can already get your hands on a LS block in good condition.

Ok so here is what i was thinking of doing maybe some PR3 pistons in my ls with new waterpump and oil pump, b16 rods and ls crank. ACL berrings with arp headstuds and rod fastners and send my pr3-3 head off somewhere anyone know of a good place in the loganville area? ohh btw how does this setup sound? should i change anything?

your b16 rods won't work on the ls crank. use the ls rods and get arp rod bolts. so you can rev it higher. try getting a gsr girdle. i'm not sure if those works by a friend of mine told me it did, just suggesting. besides that, your build should be kick ass. :goodjob:

Go with the LS/VTEC. The B16A will have a lot harder time making as much power as the B18B-LS/Vtec. Ask Mr. Kidd on here. He had a build LS/VTEC with 230+ whp.

the gridle will have to be machined to fit by a machine shop. i personally wouldnt do that unless i was going 150% full built track car.

Listen
If your going with a STOCK LS block, i dont reccomend LSVTEC. LS Rods (even with ARP Bolts) dont like high revs. i would keep it under 8000rpms.
If your looking at a rebuild, you need to do everything a rebuild requires like oil pump, timing belt, water pump, headgasket, rings, bearings, etc. If you got a bunch of junk an your trying to slap a motor together it never works out right.
IMO sounds like you dont have a big budget to do it right. I would just put some CTR pistons in the B16 with new rings and bearings and call it a day. itll make 150whp an will be fun.
Dont do LSVTEC unless your prepared to spend the money to do it right.

get a bare gsr block
throw the ls crank, rods with arp, and itr piston
and slap the b16 head and tran on it

dude go to B20vtec.com and all ur ?'s will be answered. i am in the process of doing an LS/VTEC build myself, i was originally going to do a B20/VTEC build but after reading a great deal (B20 = weak block) i decided to go wit the LS/VTEC. i just picked up a GSR head from a guy off here to combine wit an LS long block ill be getting from a guy at my job.
but it's like mrkidd say if ur not prepared to spend the cash and do it right the first time then sell me the LS block u have and take my money to work on ur B16. ;) there is a stickey thread on this site and on B20VTEC.com called how to build a reliable LS/VTEC. it's very informative and the guy shows in great detail his build from start to finish. this guy holds nothing back, it includes pics of the entire process aswell.
but if u want all ur ?'s answered by guys wit LS/VTEC motors in there cars, go registed on B20VTEC.com. they even give u a break down of wat head to use in ur build.:goodjob:
if u decide to fix ur B16 then like i said up top sell me ur LS block i could use a spare.

even with that set-up he still won't be able to rev as high...but seeing as how thats a poor man's R, he probably doesn't need to go past 8k anyways.
