I bought one on ebay that was for the year of my car. I just took my stock one out. im not sure how to explain so i took pics. The plastic part on the back that snaps out has two wires that screw into the back of gauge. On my new cluster theres one hole that i cannot screw into. Pic Explains better. ANy help would be great Thanks, Kyle

I could be wrong, but I don't think you have to have it.

I took mine out just to see what it would do. It's an "amplifier" but I don't understand wtf it's supposed to amplify. All my gauges still work just fine. I don't have a tach, though, but I don't think it has to do with that...my car's never had a tach. I plan to further research it in my DX.

Try putting it in without that box. See what it does...

im gonna go try it and see. Thanks. The new cluster came out of a crx i believe because the one im trying to instal has a tach

Not necc. a CRx, but rather, maybe just a diff trim model...

Then it wasn't for the same year model car as you have.

My '90 STD hatch came without a tach, and the cluster in my car from a '91 CRX. It was plug and play. The '88 and '89 clusters are wired different from the '90 and '91 clusters.

Yeah...definitly gotta get the 90-91 if it's that, or 88-89 if it's that...

I tried putting my 88si rex in my 91 std hatch and it wouldn't fit, nor did the wires line up right...
