so leaving work tonight, i'm taking my buddy home and he hasn't ridden in the goat after the headers went on, so i was kinda playing with it, so on and so forth... well after the car warmed up i went from 3rd to 2nd at about 40 and nailed it! i was unaware of the little civic (new 4dr si) i was about to scare the sh!t out of... well, at the next light, he came up beside me and we started talking for a brief minute... dude was pretty cool! he complimented the goat and we agreed to just have a little fun run...

light turns green... we punch it... lol he pulls a fender because all i'm doing is sitting there spinning, sliding to almost a 30 degree angle, while still propelling myself forward. i snatch 2nd and almost hook, but its pulling much better now! on my 2nd to 3rd shift i hear this "little" pop... pop... BOOM!!! with a flash in my rearview, my buddy riding with me was like "dude i think you just shot a flame!"

sure enough, at the next light he comes back up next to me with the http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif face. he said "no cats?" i said "HAHA how'd you know?" apparently my 3ft flame came pretty close to his car!

he then proceeded to http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/images/smilies/hail.gif as he knew he just got GTOwned!

i give it to him tho, he was a good sport! he was cool, we shot the sh*t for a minute then we parted ways. it was a fun night.

i call BS! you probably drive a civic yourself! riceboys and their dreams of shooting flames! detune your SAFC fag! more power > tune... but that civic you drive is probably too slow to worry about that anyways! flames make you feel like your fast!

lirl! awesome man! should have let him catch up a little before popping on... woulda left him with a scorch on the bumper as a reminder not to play with the big boys :D :goodjob:

What headers? Is that your only mod?

collins
11-06-2007, 08:04 PM
k&n typhoon, pacesh!tty lt's (no cats) and magnaflow catback. untuned. getting tuned this saturday (assuming my manifold gaskets arrive in time)

Who is tuning it? Why get cheap headers?

collins
11-06-2007, 08:27 PM
lol ok i'll post it again. i was only going to go with the jba catless mids until i could afford a nice set of headers... well i picked up these lt's for the same price i would've paid for the mids... so my conclusion was even if it was a temporary fix, it would do much better than the mids alone... however, after further research and as posted on ls1gto.com , marylandspeed did dyno testing btw the current kooks, pacesetters, then a new set of prototype kooks. while the new kooks produced a much better powerband, the pacesetters only dyno'd 5whp less than the current kooks headers. so i dont feel so bad about it.

this, btw, was on the same car, same day. i also believe there was cool down time between runs due to uninstallation and reinstallation.

You have an 05 correct.

collins
11-07-2007, 10:14 PM
yeah i have an 05. the work i can do myself, but to be honest, i know nothing about tuning, nor do i have my own dyno... so i'm just going to let an expert take care of that and maybe i can learn from him.

Ls1 motors are the easiest motors to work on by far, there as easy as a honda motor.

What intake are you putting on the car.

collins
11-07-2007, 10:17 PM
haha, yeah, my ls2 doesnt seem to be too bad either *knocks on wood* :)

collins
11-07-2007, 10:21 PM
the only mods on the car as of now would be

slp drop springs
k&n typhoon intake (not cold air)
pacesh!tty long tube headers with catless mids
magnaflow catback.

using hptuners software

i have a cam here at the house, but i'm not sure i'm going to put it in... i think i want to get a bigger cam instead of wasting my time installing a little one... plus i still gotta get all the pushrods, replacement fluids, ect... in time, but not just yet.

also when the hardened pushrods come in, i've got a 2step sitting here as well as a comp stage 2 clutch with my name on it at redstar.

You need to have your intake ported. I ported mine and picked up 19 to the wheels. The ls2 intake is very restrictive.

collins
11-07-2007, 10:22 PM
good call... i'll probably have him do that when we're doing the clutch since the car will be down for a day anyway

I have a set on manly 7.4 pushrods I will sell for 70 bucks I had to have custom one made cause of my heads and cam I picked,

You need a bigger cam, always bigger than you think you need. I'm running a baby cam 228/232

one of my cats has a gash from me bottoming out.. I will be O/R too soon... Any ideas about emisions though??

onebadgt

screw emmisions, as long as your not throwin a code they will pass you.

I will be throwing codes though with no cats. I will get it fixed with the tune but I still don't think they will pass me.. Unless someone here knows a place that will pass me for sure

iloveboost

Use o2 simulators. If the codes are cleared thru the tune, then you will pass emissions. :D

get an older car then you don't have to worry about emissions rofl, you just have to worry about heat and air conditioning...a cup holder wouldn't hurt either :D

Eli and Sabrina are great people and Eli does killer work. he built my engine and i've had 0 problems out of it after a year of beating the crap out of it. hopefully soon we're going to try out some different ported heads to see the gains on a relatively stock motor.
