so i drive a 93 honda prelude, f22 w/ auto..............ftl

im looking to do a swap, its my dd so i want it to be basically reliable but i want some speed, i know thats not gonna be cheap but im prepared for that, what i dont know is the pro's and con's b/w just doin an auto -> manual swap for the F22 or doin a whole jdm H22A / 5spd swap

thanks guys i really appreciate the help

An auto h22 swap would be just as fast or faster than a manual f22 swap with way less work done. I'd get the h22 if you want it faster, and the h22 is still reliable just like your f22. Whether you want it auto or 5spd, that's probably your best bet especially since money doesn't seem to be too big of a problem.

A 5spd tranny swap and h22 swap would be pretty cool tho:goodjob:

well money IS an issue, but what im sayin is im not gonna cheap out or cut corners, if im gonna do something im gonna do it right

and either way im gonna get a 5spd, i jsut dunno if i want to keep the f22 or go with the h22, cuz ive heard the f is better for boost, but the h has more power "out of the box" so to speak

f22B DOHC is cheap, reliable, and pretty quick.... nice alternative to dropping 2-3k on an h22

Oh okay, i didnt know you planned on boosting. The F series will probably be better for boost in the long run and a lot cheaper than 2-3 grand for the motor and then the money to boost it on top of that. Either way, get that 5spd swap first. That'll make a lot of difference by itself.

so you think i should stick with it, make it a manual and do all the i/h/e and possibly boost?

If i were you, since you're unsure, I'd start off doing the 5spd swap since you want to do that regardless. Then after that's done (gonna take a little while) you can decide if you want to go for boost or NA and go from there. Im biased towards the h22...It's faster, but way more expensive in the long run. Its all about what you want.

yeah im not boosting right away, def, doing the 5 spd swap no matter what, but im leaning towards the f22 cuz if i want it i can have the boost, and from what brittoknee said its a good alt. to the h22, thanks for all the help you guys

What kind of power do you want out of it?

i want some decent power, to have some get up and go cuz it IS my daily driver, idk how reasonable this is but 200+ sounds good lol, i honestly dont really know, i just want to have something relatively reliable and quote unquote fast

Do the manual first if money is a issue. Auto trans slows you down somewhat.
