I like the balanced feel of RWD, but you're right. There are some sexy FWD cars, the Del Sol you own, a 3000GT, etc. Is it at least safe to say that the Civic wasn't designed to be a sports car, but rather a family car that gets good gas milage and that makes it a lot harder to imagine as a machine of Sex appeal? I'm sorry, I don't see the craze with Civics, every owner I've ever talked to (in person, not all civic owners in general, maybe just the ones I know) say "It's quicker than you think it'd be. You'd be surprised" but I always am surprised, but not by the speed, but by the lack of speed after all the hype I'm given. I honestly don't see the attraction. It's a car with lego-like part compatibility that is lightweight. Good combination, if you have the money. I say start with a sportier platform if you're gonig for a sports car. nothing wrong with wanting a sensible car that can zip around a lot, but a purebread? sorry even the Sis aren't up to par for that.

Your definition of a sports car sounds like it has to be a Ferrari or Lambo... so that'll put your rx7 or any fc out there NOT a sports car, cuz I highly doubt you could pull up in it and pick up hot girls or guys (if that's what you're into).

Mr. Honda was smart enough to achieve a quick car with light weight, low power, low cost and a long lasting motor with a potential to make more power. Your's might be RWD, but I highly doubt it could out last a Civic and i know a few Civics or FWD cars that could out run majority of the rwd cars on IA... The Civic might not be a "sports" car, but it's sure as hell one of the top tuner's cars made... Either way, to each their own...

I will say a lot of ricers out there ****ed up civics for me, and to you non ricer civic owners, it's unfair to start you off at -1. The first one has mexi-tint (superdark, another craze I'll never understand) once again (and I don't see how you don't see this) it looks like the suspension is broken, it doesn't stand out to me at all. You could ask just about any guys on the Rx-7 forums, and we'd hate that so it's not just me. Maybe we're assholes but Civics are OVER RATED. Get over it, if you own one, your ownership is blocking you out from seeing it.

What is this "both run 16's" ****? Do you really think I bought my car to take to the strip to get romped on by $4k mustangs? Nope, I would have bought a stang. I bought my car because it is one of the best/cheapest for what I want to to with it, road race. Which for some reason always passes right through a FWD owner's mind, all they care about is straight line speed, which is the only thing FWD can do mildly well without extensive/expensive chassis modification.

BTW, I've got a stock Turbo car, want to put $500 on 3 laps at Road Atlanta? Then we can see how much "faster" your rex really is.

What is this "both run 16's" ****? Do you really think I bought my car to take to the strip to get romped on by $4k mustangs? Nope, I would have bought a stang. I bought my car because it is one of the best/cheapest for what I want to to with it, road race. Which for some reason always passes right through a FWD owner's mind, all they care about is straight line speed, which is the only thing FWD can do mildly well without extensive/expensive chassis modification.

BTW, I've got a stock Turbo car, want to put $500 on 3 laps at Road Atlanta? Then we can see how much "faster" your rex really is.

After doing some research of your mighty RX-7, performance wise, it's no better than a civic (not including the FD). An 87 Turbo (your model) runs a 1/4 in 15.3, my swapped CRX with bolt-on is faster than your "turbo" car. A non turbo FC runs 16s, and thats about the same as a stock civic :goodjob:

Stock cars shouldn't be compared to swapped cars. A stock CRX runs high 16s if its running strong. And if i compared it to my TII, that would be stupid becuse my car is modified.
So take a stock TII. It runs maybe a second and a half faster than a CRX. Put exhaust/intake/header and a 50 shot on the crx. Maybe you'll crack low 14s. Put a downpipe and exhaust on an Rx7. 13's.
Its a stupid comparison because turbo cars are easily made fast with a little freeing up due to their nature.
N/A FCs are Slow. But they are fast in the corners. They're are also way less on the road than Civics. Some people care about more than just being quick in a straight line.

I like hondas. Grew up driving a CRX. I love my Current EK. But i also love my TII. The TII Is fast. Honda... Well its got coilvers and it tears ass in the corners. Just all depends on how you set your car up really. I've been beat by a honda in my TII. But for the price, it lays the hurt on most anything around. My EK put a few RWD guys to shame on the 129-60-180 loop. But my old N/A FC would have given the EK a good run.

I don't have any reason to try and make you feel like sh!t or make you sell your car. I never said power was everything. Just saying that your comparison was weak.
And yes, i agree it wouldn't be much of a comparison between a 1.5sohc and turbo car. That was the point.
Like i said i like em all. Loved my first CRX and the other two i've owned, and the EFs i've had, and me EK. I also liked all three rx7s i've had, one being quite faster than the others.
I understand you were sticking up for honda, but the kid was just voicing opinion. No real need to defend and start some rx7 vs civic war.
I also hate when people think a car is gods gift to earth. All my rotary friends think my civic isn't as good as my TII or their Rx7, so i shut them up in areas i can, like in the mountains, or when we go to the gas station. (lol)
My other friends hate on rotarys for being unreliable (pfffft on that) and having no torque, and other ****. So i shut them up on the straights, if we go drifting, and with the fact that my car starts up every time and runs just great whenever required.

Its a never ending battle. I play both sides so don't take offense to what i say, chances i've been there and had that argument with somebody i know lol.

woah woah woah, don't twist my words. Quote the passage where I say that. I don't htink owning a Civic makes you rice. I said the car on the first page, looks ricey because it's slammed and has superdark tinting. I also said that a lot of the ricey Civic owners ruin the civic's reputation for me, but I do state that there are "good" and "bad" Civic owners. I DID say they were overhyped but I clearly expressed that as an opinion. I also never said my car was a gift of God, I said it was more balanced to me and, in my opinion, sexier. I really think I was hated because of the way I was interpereted more than what I meant, but I do know I hit a few buttons as well. I just think people took my words of opinion in disliking Civics to mean that I think Civics suck. I just said I don't see what all the hype is about. As for some of the more direct ricer insults, those are defending personal attacks. All of this got started because on page 1, I said that it may be sexy, but not pure sex, because I don't think I FWD car can be pure sex, just close to it. So, if you really look back, even despite my disliked the slammed look and dark tint, I said it was sexy to some degree. Please try and carefully read anyhting I've read post for post, it's really not as bad as you guys think it was, and if it is, it was probably because people started insulting me. First you are been stupid here, your trying to compare an apple to an orange. Your trying to compare a bone stock car to swap car, a better comparsion would be two stock car, such as a stock rx7 t2 to a type-R, or a swap CRX to a modded rx7 t2.

Think of it this way,

A motor swap in a CRX, will give it a price tag of $1500, now put $1500 into that rx7 and that rx7 will make more power and more then likely handle better since the rx7 was built from the factory for racing.

Its like comparing a 2L 4cyl compared to a 3L 6cyl motor, the 3L is going to be a better motor in almost all ways.

I will agree that FWD are not ment to be sport cars, if you look at the reason FWD started beening made and why they got imported to america you notice its all for the better gas mileage. I will agree that some FWD can be fun to drive, and I have looked at getting a fun FWD before, but they still can't beat the feedback that a lightweight RWD car can give, or the traction of an AWD car.

If your thinking I am just another person bashing, I had my fair share of different cars, ranging from an GSX, to an old school FWD corolla, and now I got a miata and turbo supra.

Each car type has it pros and its cons... nothing you can do about it but mod your cars to the fashion you like.
