I dont believe in God, but I would engage in something like the anthem just over tradition especially if I was in his shoes. I celebrate christmas but hell it wasnt but 5years ago that I realized it was christmas because of christ, where before I thought it was just present day. After I found out I been celebrating Jesus day all my life, I continued to celebrate Jesus/Present day, not religiously but traditionally.

i dont see where separation of church and state have anything to do with this

my only answer to this would be to know your country, know whats expected, and that by showing he is unwilling to pledge allegiance to this country, which should be considered a gift imo, and show outwardly that he is down for us then he is a traitor of the literal since, if he doesnt pledge allegiance to this country who does he pledge allegiance too? i say **** him....

and just for reading pleasure, taken from the United States Code...

"During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171"

and b/c i know people are going to ask....the United States Code (U.S.C.) is a compilation and codification of the general and permanent federal law of the United States.

those pics on the bottom of that other link say that he had his hand over his heart for the national anthem. theres a difference. the national anthem is our country's "Song". the pledge of allegiance is your word that you will protect your freedoms and your country and your rights, which the flag is a symbol of.

Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name)

This has been established, and why is that such a big deal? My middle name's Bin Laden...are you going to look at me any differently?

I don't understand why he wouldn't say the pledge though...something doesn't seem right about that.

If you're going to let a thing like this be a deciding factor in your decision...then I think we have a lot more to worry about. Then again, since you're posting this, I think you've made your decision already. You're taking this as another reason not to support this candidate.

I don't like this about a lot of people these days. Seems like they don't care as much about how good the candidate they support are...but simply how much dirt they can dig up on the other guys.

I'm still sort of taken aback at that, but it's pretty trivial compared to what atrocities our current Commander in Cheif has committed.

As for the Pledge of Allegance, I've stood up with my hand on my heart for it...I don't remember actually reciting it after 5th grade though.

Hinduism does not promote close-mindedness at ALL. It's one of the most open and accepting religions out there.

I think faith is a pretty bad reason to base one's vote on, if it's just faith and faith alone. I see no connection between a person's faith and their ability to lead a country. Well...that's a stretch. I see some connection, because if a person is of a certain faith, it is implied that they have a certain set of morals and values that they follow. People respect and admire that they have these morals and values. However, just because someone is of a certain faith, it doesn't mean that they automatically practice these morals and have said values. Soon enough, it seems like the faith is just there for namesake. I mean, look at our current president. He is a man of faith, but SO MANY of his actions and decisions have led us to believe otherwise.

EDIT: Mr. Org...where did your post go? That was good stuff.

Im just glad the big oil family will be out of office for good! gas is gonna go back down, you watch!!

...you've got to be kidding me

the price of crude oil has nothing to do with the presidency. From the oil futures reports I've been reading for the past week, I'm expecting oil to climb to 120$ a barrel before valentines day.

Don't blame George W. ...blame the freakin Saudis. If some terrorist group lights off a nuke over in those oil fields (rendering them un-useable); oil is going to live up to it's name "black gold" in the most literal sense. Our economy will not be able to take the hit from $200+ per barrel oil, and things will go downhill real quick around here. Last time i checked, the president is doing his best to STOP that from becoming reality by taking the terrorists head on, instead of being a beotch and trying to negotiate terms.

I'm not a Bush nutswinger by any stretch of the imagination. I sure didn't vote for him; and i disagree with quite a bit of what he's doing... but he is doing the right thing by fighting the terrorists straight up instead of ignoring the problem.

they do not, in fact a man was held in contempt of court for refusing to swear on oath to the bible.

I personally think a Muslim president is our only ticket for avoiding the disaster that is coming in our future.

History will repeat itself, world war is imminent.

If Obamas practices and political ideas were not so ****ed up then I would have no problem with a Muslim president. Just Def not Obama.

this country was FOUNDED on christian faiths... KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!
yes, there are other faiths in this country, and i respect them.. but the way WE founded the country was on christian beliefs, i say there still should be prayer in school, and say "...UNDER GOD..." also..

forget the liberals, thats why ther are so many retarted emo people in this country

'nuff said.

Oh, and btw, this country was founded on the values of people looking to escape religious persecution... ie looking for FREEDOM OF RELIGION. Not every Muslim is a f*cking radical, and all Muslims should not be treated like they are. Do people go around accusing you of being Timothy McVeigh? Didn't think so. Some of you people need to turn off Fox and CNN. Let's remember what America is really supposed to be about.

HTH did you make it to 20 years old and NOT know that Christmas 1) was at least a religious holiday and 2) that is was the celebration of Christ's birth??? just really curious about that one...I know you are young, but DANG!!!

alright, after reading through this BULL****...

we ALL know this will be a never ending debate. NO one will ever be happy with the current president. It just doesn't happen.

Now, I believe that every person in that photo would run this country into the ground, ESPECIALLY Hillary.

But before I get flammed or whatever, ya'll need to know Im not for EITHER party. Ive got VERY mixed views, I believe that the Gov't was founded on the Christian faith, but I DONT see the point in neglecting other faiths, that are ALOT like the Christian faith..Ladies and Gentlemen, accept it or not judism(spelling?), Muslim, and Christianity, IS THE SAME GOD!! For the true believers they all tend to be peaceful..Then you have your hypocritical Christians, your Radical Muslims and so on and so fourth. No one will ever be happy, and it will always be that way. As far as those who dont believe in any God what so ever...you cannot deny that those religions at least set the basic morals for the country...for the most part..Im not trying to knock on those who dont believe in what I do, I respect everyones opinion/belief...(just so thats out there)

As far as the "muslim=not my president" comment..thats straight Ignorance..If you call yourself a Christian, your a damn hypocrite.

I also dont think that anyone has really shined on either party. The 2 people I think that have a Shot against Obama and HIllary...would be Ron Paul and Rudy Juliani..

The only reason I say Juliani is because of 9/11..the reason he wouldn't get it...Pre-9/11 if anyone remember he was ****in up big time..

I really dont think anyone is that great for the position of Commander and Chief..its sad to say, you'd think someone would be in it for the Country and not for themselves...

As far as i can tell there is no diffrence in the republican and democratic party. I and a good majority of my co-workers are Libertarian, and want as little government as possible. Heck if there was a way i could take away the 30% of my check they get i would be even happier, i personaly am voiting for Huckabe ( see www.fairtax.org ) And i hate to drag religion into this but doesnt the qu'ran say that Muslims have to convert, enslave or kill non muslims??? and to me if a muslim isnt doing this are they not to be concidered a hyporcit and not following their religion?(look it up if you dont believe me) i see alot of people coming after christians but not looking at the other side of the page. but hey thats just me feel free to flame on.

While Islam, like Christianity, has a brutal history the direct translation of each religions holy book says nothing about killing in the name of god.

I disagree with All Organized religion, its all just a puppet game.

There is so much ignorance scattered throughout this thread it's hard to know where to begin. I guess I'll just pick on a few things that bothered me...

1) The words "under God" were not added to the Pledge of Allegiance until the early 1950s. Therefore it cannot be used in any argument about what ideals our founding fathers had in mind when establishing our country.

That being said, I recited it every morning of grade school and have no problem saying it today.

2) The same thing stated above goes for "In God We Trust." It wasn't added to US currency until the 1950s. Before that only "E Pluribus Unum" (meaning "From many, one" or "Out of many, one") was the only motto used.

3) Whether the country was founded on Christian ideals is debatable. What's absolutely not debatable is the fact that it was founded on the concept of the separation of church and state. The government should have absolutely no say in what citizens of the United States believe. Religion should have absolutely no say in the affairs of our government.

Obviously we still need to work on this (prayer in school, hand on the Bible, gay marriage, etc).

Alright, I'm tired of typing. I'm done for now.

Jesus way to freak out, and sorta make yourself look like a radical southern baptist.

The country was not founded on Christian belief, but on religious freedom. The reason why the country was created was because in England the Puritan was prosecuted by the king, therefore the Puritan settle in the Americas to seek religious freedom. It is funny though, once the Puritan set up colonies in America, they prosecuted other people who did not follow their own religion, and it is kind of sad how ironic that was. Seeking religious freedom, but in return prosecuted those that did not believe in their own religion even worst then that of the English Parliament.

About the not pledging, it is the individual right of the person to do/not to do so, as burning the flag, (but don’t do that). I remember when I was in Elementary school, every time we rise to pledge the flag there use to be one kid that just sit there, and I always wonder why that was, and people made fun of him because he did pledged like the rest of us. What I’m getting at is, this is country is a majority rule, it is hard, even sometime prosecuted if one go against the norm even if they are right. Ex the Japanese/Germans encampment during WWII, the Black suppressions for the last few hundreds years, and now the Muslims. Some people need to just open their mind, and view the world in more then one dimension and stop making these racial, religious, etc comments, and maybe it be better place to live.
I agree with the comment above there are a lot of ignorance ppl!

also, if you look at all of the larger calamities in the world, they stem from religion. in the middle east, for example, is about to blow up, literally, and its not that they just don't like each other, its what their religion teaches them.

Oh noes! The pledge has "God" in it? Oh noes! Our money has "God" on it? Whatever shall we do?

Screw it, we're d@mned either way with the two candidates that are running. I just plan on leaving to watch this country each itself alive from afar.
