At least the kit lens is better than no lens at all (or if i'm starving I might be able to trade it for a case of ramen noodles)

We all were bitching and moaning on the last day of assembly BECAUSE of the massive amount of stickers we had to use, but then we realized that without these sponsors, there would be no car.

Some stickers will come off AFTER SEMA as they only sponsored the car FOR SEMA.

Jason send me the other pic yuo have, the one from inside the shop

I thought yall were letting Superstar Customs do some more bullets and airbrushing on the car??

OK nevermind I see the little black bullet HOLES on the fender and bumper. I'd still prefer bullets rather that bullet holes.

We don't like to have al of the stickers either. It's just part of the game. Maybe one day we'll be rich enough to byass al of them except for Batlground. I doubt it, but it is what it is.

Thanks to everyone again who helped. Thanks Jason for the pics. Look for another thread just like this on my car when we get back from Las Vegas in a few weeks. It will start all over again. I think I'm going to go with a color no one is thinking of. I have been thinking about it a lot. I will leave it a surprise for now :)

Jason wtf are you shooting with these days? These pics were with the XTI and kit lens. :eye: My 50mm f/1.8 sucks with car shots at night for some reason :dunno: even at F22 I can't seem to get everything to come into focus

I will trade the 300mm F/4.0L IS for a Canon 24-70 F/2.8L though! Changing my "focal point" with cars so to speak.

DrivenMind
11-05-2007, 03:37 PM
I always use autofocus with my fixed Canon 50mm f/1.8. The DOF is just too shallow to get it right, without a more accurate means of DOF Preview.

I always use autofocus with my fixed Canon 50mm f/1.8. The DOF is just too shallow to get it right, without a more accurate means of DOF Preview.Me too, I'll make it hunt using autofocus for a reflection or lighter spot on the car until it grabs it then switch it to manual focus...with it at F18-22 the entire car should be in focus as well as the background in most cases. (note: onthat that high in extreme cases, try to keep it at F/8-F12 if there's sufficient light)

I talked with someone who i consider one of the top 5 automotive photographers in the world and what he uses for his low light static shots...which brings me back to the 24-70 F/2.8L

Who is sweetie? roflmao

Bumper mesh of some type? I have a huge dislike for huge open spaces in bumpers. Makes it look like the "ricer" down the street that couldn't finish off his car. Just me. The overall car looks. Looking at it from the front it looks like hell to me. "Unfinished" if you will. Seems to be the "drift car look" that maybe I just don't get.

/Start Humor

I guess since Nissans aren't meant for track duty they don't have spots for trailering or towing built in without having to remove grills/bumpers etc hehehehe

I'm sorry that the mesh is such a huge deal to you. I didn't realize the impact of us leaving it out. We will consider that next time we build a car, which will be very soon since my car is next. Forget the functionality of the things we did include, like easy access to the tow strap. We'll just try to make everyone happy by adding their personal preferences to the cars :)

/humor

P.S. The cars weren't meant for track use...but by golly, they are getting used for it whether they like it or not.

/end humorToo bad fiberglass bumpers sent from sponsors normally don't have the openings for tow hooks like that ;) Plus these aren't track cars and tend to hit things more than your normal track car, no matter who the driver is. A tow strap is far more functional in those cases.

I however do have the material to fabricate grills like the Modena 360 GT's though and if there was more time during for the SEMA build I would have tried to make it work.

This bumper came with mesh...we took it out :)

We loose a bumper on each car almost every event. It's not worth the drama to have to worry about it. :D It may have been alright to have had some for SEMA, but who cares, really??? We would probably leave the bumper off if we could, but we aren't allowed to according to the rules.

calm down ;)I despise fiberglass, it should never be seen on a highway unless it's in the form of a boat being pulled behind a truck.

It's cheap but you can't complain much about items being sent to you at little or no cost...plus it's easily repaired.

Tracy as far as the decals goes how much of the size and placement is outlined in sponsorship deals? How much discretion do you have around them? It's different for each sponsor. Some of them have specific requirements, like K&N has to be in their colors. The size and general placement is something that is negotiated in the beginning of the season depending on the company contribution.

I wanna see you make up proposals and submit them to Volk or Work or BBS or whoever....

TRACY/BATLGROUND: If i had anything to do with a japanese wheel co./high end wheels. I would so sponsor you in a heartbeat :D just want you to know that. Free wheelsare free wheels at the end of the day tho lol. Im sure they look decent spinning anyways. Can you get any wheel model from konig you need? IMO a set of polished featherlites in a low low offset would look very cool.

I think she already mentioned why they chose those wheels. Something about width...?

Konig tells us what to run and we happen to like them :) Our on;y complaint is they are a little heavy. They are going to work with us on wheels designs in the future. That's the benefit of staying loyal to a company, you get to have a say eventually sometimes. We also had a lot of input on the Maxxis Drift Tires that they came out with. That was aweosme.
