I remember a stereo competition back in Gainesville about 13-14 years ago that I got to see an Esprit for the first time. It was British racing green and totally badass. From that point on I have always liked Lotus cars in general. I so wish I could rationalize getting an Exige or Elise. They just aren't very practical as a family car.:(

That's where they are in 944's. I never had a problem with it.

Tranny problems... Too much power with a weak tranny. Still a car I wish I own. First time seeing it is like looking at a Japanese car with full body kit.

they can be. It depends on how it was taken care of. The problem lies with replacement parts. Due to the low number of them made replacement parts are rare and expensive.

btw I like the newer exhaust.

Whoa whoa...which models have an exhaust like this?

I thought the had two center-exit pipes on the newer ones.

I test drove one a 2000 model a while back from the BMW store on Roswell rd. That is one the the fastest cars I have even driven. Twin turbo V8, something like 400hp. It shakes and rattles a bunch and feels like it is about to fall apart though.

350hp

3.5liter v8 tt

there was something wrong with the one you drove. They were hand built only turning out a few a week, so build quality was excellent.

anyone that'd like to read up on them here is a great link

I've owned many 944s and put over 3k miles on a Esprit V8tt........never had a problem with the handbrake. It doesn't extend very high when it's up.
Bad ass car. Excellent ***** magnet, and feels tight as a 15 y/o virgin at 165mph.
