I'm thinking of going with a B18C1 instead of my D16Y8.
If I keep the D16Y8 I'm going to have to pour a lot more money into to make it as good as I could get the B18C1.
I have some questions about the swap though.
What will and won't hook up?
What will I need to replace?
Will my p/s still work?
Will I need a new radiator?

Any info will be much appreaciated.

best bang for you buck is a boosted single cam

Swaps get costly!

actually it can be cheaper to build a turbo d then the cost of a swap and then a turbo. yeah in the long run you can get faster times on the b18 but it would cost more money for sure.

What are your goals for the car? Stock vs. stock the b18c1 is better. If you want to turbo then the d16 is probably cheaper in the long run. It will be costly to build up the d16, but just think of the near 2K you'll save from not doing the swap you could put into the motor. Personally, I'd get the gsr motor but that's just me. It all depends what you want it for: racing, 1/4 mile, etc.

Damn this is old. I thought I posted saying I'm boosting the single cam. Oh well. Basically I'm completely rebuilding the engine because I don't feel like hand grenading the engine. Why bother doing it if it's half assed? So it will be an extremely slow process considering what I'm buying and that I make barely any money.

Save the SOHC man! You can hit 200 on a stock boosted motor as long as it is done right and tuned well. Get yourself some vitara pistons and some tunertoys rods for under $400 then the turbo and setup the tuning with crome. People make over 300hp on that, some over 400. Its all in the tune. Some boosted SOHC Dynos with setup info. http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4140

boost the SOHC, especially if you are poor. don't waste money swapping.

boost it, buy a spare block and build it!

Thanks for the good lucks. I'm getting some skunk2 pro sport s coilovers first. Funds keep getting drained and hours keep getting cut. Retail sucks. I'll update as it comes along though!
