I went by Rainbow muffler earlier today and they can't mess with 3" piping. The guy said the piping is too large for them to flare :???:

Looking for a shop that can handle the task and at the same time weld the aluminized kteller kit.

The set-up:

DTR header > kteller 3" piping kit > Vibrant 18" resonator > Vibrant 3" stealth muffler

Some pics of the system:

I took the header (piece that connects to exhaust) off and it's 2.5" diameter as seen here:

Entire piece:

Thin gasket not quite large enough to mate with the DTR header:

kteller flange also not quite large enough:

Closer look at the misaligned holes:

Formally...

We can weld that up for you. For the header flange, do you have the donut gasket that goes with the header. If so, we can flare the 3in piping to fit with the gasket. Even if you have solid motor mounts I would suggest using a donut gasket and the spring bolts. That is a nice header and you don't want to crack it. Later.

I don't have the donut gasket, but looks like Summit racing sells 2.5" gaskets. I am taking the header up there to find out if they work or not.

Question: As for the springs / bolts, will the OEM Civic hardware work for the header?!?!

Question: Do you guys have a flange that will match up to my DTR flange? If not, know where I can get one?

Hopefully I can get this done with you guys very soon

I went by Summit Racing to get the donuts. The salesman recommends I get a 2.5" - 3" test pipe to connect the system.

I wrote DTR/SSR (company who makes the header) asking about the header to exhaust connection but haven't heard back yet.

What do you guys recommend?

I was told the OEM Type S header donut gasket will work. I have this and will verify.

Does this mean I just need a 2.5" flange that matches up with the header flange (for the 3" piping)?

Any idea where I can get spring bolts? It's been said the OEM ones will not work so they just used regular bolts. Really don't want to risk damaging this piece.

Thanks again and looking forward to getting this done

Well, I think the headache is finally over. While down in Savannah I stopped by a muffler shop who had just what I needed

Can you guys remove the excess piping and weld the flange to the 3" piping:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o225/Hybrid93Hatch/Hybrid93Hatch%20K20a2%20build%20/Exhaust/IMG_6269_rs35.jpg

I'm going to clean her up nicely:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o225/Hybrid93Hatch/Hybrid93Hatch%20K20a2%20build%20/Exhaust/IMG_6271_rs35.jpg

Shop also gave me the donut gasket. It's not quite wide enough to fit over the DTR flange. I'm going to see if Summit has one that will clear the flange. If not, I'll dremel this one out to make it work:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o225/Hybrid93Hatch/Hybrid93Hatch%20K20a2%20build%20/Exhaust/IMG_6274_rs35.jpg

Without the donut gasket:

Hand tightened, YES!!! The 2 spring bolts I have on hand will work :bump:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o225/Hybrid93Hatch/Hybrid93Hatch%20K20a2%20build%20/Exhaust/IMG_6276_rs35.jpg

Got to get new nuts though:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o225/Hybrid93Hatch/Hybrid93Hatch%20K20a2%20build%20/Exhaust/IMG_6277_rs35.jpg

This is with the flange pushed all the way to bottom. Once centered the gap is gone:

These are the springs / bolts I used. Not sure if they are from a D or B series. But, they should do the job:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o225/Hybrid93Hatch/Hybrid93Hatch%20K20a2%20build%20/Exhaust/IMG_6279_rs35.jpg

Let me know how this looks :goodjob:
