You can just take it off..it doesn't really matter if you have your county on it anyways to my knowledge.

I'm sure the ink that's printed directly on the plate isn't as durable or resistant as the vinyl stickers. If you really want it on there then simply go to the tag office and they will give you the reflective county sticker...it's the same sticker that goes on a plate if you move from a new county instead of getting a new plate.

it's "illegal"
How I know, I had a first hand experience.
{Personal experience}
I used to live in Perry, GA (if you dont know it's a small ass town). I was leaving a friend's house around 3am after preparing for a test. I drove past a cop doing the speed limit and notice that the cop made a u-turn and started to tail me. After about 5 mins of following me, he decided to pulled me over (I made sure I stopped in a well lighted are). When he came to my window I asked him what did I do wrong, he responded with "let me see your license and registation." So about 30min of sitting in my car (wasting my sleep time), he comes back with a bulls hit ass ticket for not having my county decal on my plate. After talking to a lawyer at my university, he help me get the ticket thrown out by claiming "profiling" since the officer could not see my plate going the opposite way and I was not breaking the law in any other way. It seem like the officer purposely found something to charge me with.

Just go to the tag office and they'll give you the county sticker to put on it.
