Back in my fraternity days, my pledge class bought one from a junkyard for 50 bucks. The guy didn't think it ran. One of the guys I was with had an optima yellow top in his trunk. He put it in, and it cranked right up. We joked that the battery was worth more than the car.

Long story short, the "Sextiva" was a piece. We bought to use in a prank (spray painted it and got it in the TV room of our house).

Haha, I know that doesn't help at all, just thought I'd share.

I think you can swap in an escort motor (1.8 or 1.9.. I can't recall) or it was a mazda 323 turbo motor... it's been a while. Research it though..
I wonder if a MX-6 turbo motor would fit...

I've also heard of someone using a festiva as a autocross car (yes, people made fun of them but they did it anyways) I'll see if I can find the videos. I used to have a video of him racing it a few years ago.
I thought those cars were such pieces... until I saw a Yugo... so as long as you can make it fast I'd like to see it. Motors will swap into it atleast.

You should drop in a b6d and have a ball. Theres a 323 gt in the pullapart on buford, the turbo setup is gone, but the harness is still in it... i know thats a simple direct swap. thoise can be some mean little cars. U put a bp in it and u got a quik car without the boost..

yeah the aspire is the 2nd gen of a festy. i have one... lol
its slow as hell but LIGHT as sh*t. had it weighed and with me in it it was about 2000. if mine had less rust i would already have a b6t (mercury capri xr2, 323 gt/gtx) but im afraid to take it apart. i might do it when its not a DD for me.

i wish i could find decent coilovers for it tho...

Ford Festiva driver right here baby!!!

There are two modified festiva drivers in the Atl area right now. One has a BP 1.8, and another has a B6 sohc.

I got my Festiva at the end of August and have not really done anything to it yet due to lack of parts. Some esential parts to building a moster festiva include: Ford Aspire brake/suspension swap, Kyb struts, fms lowering spring, 14'' wheel and 195/45(or whatever, 45's work best) tires, and a engine of your choice. If I can find a B6T for cheap enough(200-400 dollars) I will get it.

Festiva 1/4 miles times with unmodified engines:
B6 1.6 sohc= 16s
Bp 1.8 dohc= high 14s
B6t 1.6 dohc turbo= mid to high 13s
Stock b3= 20+ seconds

and the b6t isnt mine, its in a junkyard near my house. the trans and motor are still in the car, but should only cost 300 to get it all. no clue as to the condition though, i asked the owners of the yard and they had no idea the car was there haha.

wrong, there is no festiva GTx, You may have looked up a festiva with a gtx motor in it out of the 1st gen 323 gt/GtX both had 1.6turbo dohc B6t motors, the gtx was a hatch and was AWD, the GT was a FWD 4door sedan. THAt motor fits, but isnt a direct swap. they are very swappable and capable cars. Its crazy how so many pelple are wowed by these cars in this thread...You all need to look into those late 80- early 90's ford/mazda vehicles.. they were great cars!

There are a few Festiva Gtxs running around Asia, and the did have a 1.3 dohc and sportier bumpers.

I am thinking about a Miata B6 engine over the B6t due to availability, more aftermarket, and easier Mega Squirt solutions. It should be capable of 125 whp with Diy Itbs, MegaSquirt, exhaust, and a engine rebuild if necessary.

I could mount the Miata engine straight into my festiva with no modifications but that requires the use of the stock 4/5spd tranny(no fun). I will upgrade to a g25m tranny(escort GT probably) when I swap in the new engine.

If anyone knows where I can get a cheap Miata engine(1.6l) that is in good condition, or needs a rebuild let me know.

its not a miata engine!! its a b6d :D , theres one at the pullapart on buford, out of a 323 gt. I always figured the b6 wehre the same except the b6t's. The newer model B6d's had the same rods as the b6t's had, if im not mistaken. But those can be easily found in 95 mx3 rs's. And those pop up alot in the PAP.

Thers tons of g trannies on the yard also... but if ur gonna get a good tranny, you shoudl try to get a 1st gen kia sephia tranny, much much stronger than the protege/escort gt tranny. But those B6d's are easy to come by.

IM clueless on that 1.3dohc motor, ihave heard of it, but i haev never seen pics of it..lol Iguess your right. Thanx for the extra info... :goodjob:

i say go the extra mile and go ahead and put the bp in there :)

i might be getting a 323 gtr which isnt a festiva but its basically a festiva lol well it is one but i dont think i would rock a festiva just because of the name lol

1.3? you sure your not refering to the 1.5 b5 motor? now those motors if you can find one ARE AMAZING downside the only car i know of 100% had them were the mx-3 rs in Japan and europe :)

AV8ter
10-23-2007, 06:10 AM
Yes I am talking about the B6-ZE out of a 1989-1993 miata, not the b6d found in many 1990s mazdas.

Here is a thread where the guy is putting real GTX Festiva parts onto his usdm festiva, INCLUDING A 1.3 DOHC!

Id put a BP in my car but they are heavier, and bigger. I would not be able to use A/C in my car if I go 1.8

I'm droppin the B6 dohc, and going with a BP engine swap(1.8l, 130whp). The B6 is too hard to find, and I can get BP stuff at the Junkyard. I am going to start pullin stuff at the yards once my Finals are over. I also got my new suspension ready, and found some nice Festiva goodies at the yard(power mirrors, tach cluster, center console).

I'll post up some pics of my build up.
