Well i had this car for sale here on IA and on a few other sites...got a call about 2pm today saying that it had been found burning this morning by some old woman around 8:30...

I left for vacation last thursday to Panama City Beach so i let a friend of mine borrow my car because we recently bought his only car...lol...anyway about 10am sunday morning he went to work cutting trees with some of his friends and left the car at their shop. They were close to his place so they just left him at home and some old woman saw it burning about 8:30 this morning...

She goes over to the car opens the door and see it smoking from the center console...LEAVES THE DOOR OPEN...drives to a pay phone calls 911 and goes back to find the car fully involved in flames. When the fire dept responded after about 30-45 mins there wasnt even a door handle left...

the car would NOT have burned if that dumb*** woman hadnt left the door open to go and call 911...

so, who did it?

TrickcitykustomsPrez
10-15-2007, 10:59 PM
dont believe anyone did. Police and Fire Dept didnt find anything that would make them think someone did it. I got it in sept. and have had 2 main fuses blow on me so they figure that had something to do with it...also said that the phone charger in the console could have gotten to hot and done it :(

Good luck man. Wouldn't be surprised if the insurance did some checking around before paying you off. But, considering you weren't around, your friend wasn't around, and some random woman found the car then I would think it would be ok.

TrickcitykustomsPrez
10-15-2007, 11:36 PM
yeah the insurance didnt even ask any questions they just said bring fire report and an adjuster would contact us in 24-48 hours

Ouch! I'm glad no one was hurt. Hopefully you can get back at least what it was worth.

Either I'm not getting it, but I think even though fire needs oxygen it would've burned up either way with the door open/closed. Cars aren't air tight so it would have turned out the same.

BTW what took the fire dept. so long to get there? 45mins is a LONG time especially if it was a house fire, lives would've been on the line. Fires only take a few minutes to engulf a house.

yeah it would have burned but it wouldnt have been fully involved when she got back with the door closed which would have given her a chance to keep it knocked down til they got there.

The reason it took so long is I live in BFE and the car was in an even worse place. Polk County, Tennessee if you happen to know where that is lol. I could have gotten a golf cart to the car from the fire station that responded in under 5 mins...they just arent that great a dept :(

an accelerant is usually concentrated in one place. even if it did burn the whole thing with an accelerant you would be able to see where it started.

nah the tires are all melted and mangled...the only thing on the car that MIGHT be good are the emblems on the trunk and the wheels unless the heat warped them (which i wouldnt doubt)

the motor and tranny are most likely still good to

i cant decide what i want to get next. i can get a 5 speed civic right now for $1k. or i can get a 98 Jeep Wrangler with extras for $8.5k...Someone on another forum said i could consider a jeep liberty and had never thought of that til i look on car domain and saw one that was lifter with aftermarket wheels/tires +++ it was pretty bad ***.

No worries tho State Farm bein a pain about the claim. Im going to have the car hauled to their parking lot and put a sign on it sayin "Sorry you have to look at this but state farm is worse insurance company to work with"...should speed them up some.

Ill make a post and let everyone know what i get next
