Saturday, November we are have an EF Meet. Below is the tentitive schedule of events:

9:00 am: Meet @ the Varsity Downtown. We will ride out from here to the mountains in Dahlonega for.....well.... mountain runs :D.

1:00 pm: Meet at CiCi's for Lunch. From here we will ride out to various locations for pictures to be taken by the EF Squad photographer, Uproot :goodjob:

4:30 pm: Meeting at Andretti Speed lab for go karts and afternoon fun.

The whole reason I am posting this is because I want to see how many Ef's are going to be at the meet this time. Last meet didn't produce the amount of numbers I would have liked, and I'm hoping to see alot of you guys out there this meet :D. So post up, and tell us which event we can expect you at.

Even stock you can still have alot of fun up there. Just come on out, hang to the rear and have fun with it. No need to try to hang up front with the big dogs...the tail end is just as fun as the front.

Well...seeing as I lead these things (unless someone else steps up...or...can...pass me...) my only requests are that people don't cross double yellows, don't cross solid whites, don't pass erratically or competitively, and you let faster drivers pass you...other than that, just knowing and staying within your limits, and I won't have a problem with whoever you are or whatever you drive. :)

Yeah, I mean I can't keep my eyes behind me the whole time to make sure everyone follows rules...and seeing as alot of people were meetin me for the first time, I didn't wanna come off as a ****, sounding like "I own these mountains, what I say goes, and if you think otherwise, you're wrong." I didn't wanna sound like the bastardly veteran that's over-cocky and arrogant. However..I have been up there and seen people slip up. When they do...it's bad. If you keep yourself in your lines...you've got more room to recover when you actually DO go outside the lines. If you can manage your car at a decent rate of speed inside the lines, then getting your car back under control if you slide out shouldn't be a problem. Just a general rule...afterall, it IS a road...not a track. But like I said...everyone's got their own agenda for rules and such.

I too have noticed that most of the people who modify their cars pay a lot more attention while driving. And G-Unit types seem to think that their 42" rims or 6ft lifted trucks deserve more than one lane.

Alan, I don't mind slowing it down. In fact...I purposly slow down at certain points to make sure we don't lose people. But I hate highway travel.

For example, I went to Auburn two or three weeks ago. made it in just over an hour from Woodstock. It's about an hour-forty-five minute drive. I tapped 120 and held it most of the way there. When I'm on the interstate...it's cuz I got somewhere to be...

But yeah, tell your old man to drive the speed he wants. We're NOT gonna lose people.

Hell...it may not be a half-bad idea to get radios...

If so, no matter what I can't get lost. I've ran that route some many times its almost burned into my head. I love revisiting places.:ninja:



They only way we'll lose people on the highway is if they get caught in traffic and the leaders don't notice. We'll just need to keep tabs on the newer people while going up to Dahlonega.

I don't know the exact route. I'll have to run it again to rememeber the roads, but it wasn't too difficult. But it takes us right up into Helen...then back to Dahlonega.

Going up to Helen...only route I know is to take GA-75.
To come back we could take GA-348 north and we would come out at GA-180.
But thats like a 50 minute drive.

Focus more on treadwear. Lower treadwear goes out faster, but sticks better.

I appreciate my Proxes4's, but for a heavier car...hmmm. I mean you can try the P4's. You DID have two of mine for a little while...

contrary to popular belief, speed ratings have nothing to do with grip, and i doubt you'll ever be going 160+ in your volvo for an extended amount of time...

Like, Evasive said, stick with treadwear as the typical guide. There are exceptions however, the BFG G-Force Sport has a treadwear of 340, but manages to grip just as well as an RT-615 Azenies in dry weather.

So do your research, naturally, I'd recommend the BFG tire. :D (I'm a huge fan)

Speed ratings are absolutely irrelevant unless you have a car that will see speeds above 200 mph. Any decent gripping tire is going to be rated at least V, which is good to 149 mph. Saying you want "at least a Z rating" is like saying you want to finish a class with "at least an A+" ... you can't really do any better.

The Falken Azenis RT615 is probably the best street tire out there. The Hankook Ventus R-S2 is right there with it. There are tires that grip better, but they won't last long with daily use.

The RT-615s used to be the tire to have in STS, but not anymore. They're not a bad tire, but you won't see more than about 10,000 miles out of them.

I DD, track, and autocross the Toyo Proxes 4s. The first set lasted 30,000 miles, roughly, with I think three or four track weekends and maybe 10 autocrosses...or about 50+ autocross runs on them. The track weekends were driven mostly by my roommate at the time...he time trialed my car for three events, and is a much, much better driver than I was at the time. Well, by better, I mean Rob hustled my car around a road course faster.

I replaced the Proxes 4s with another set. I've now done two autocrosses, and five track days on them. I've had a couple of my instructors comment on how well they stick.
