hey people, im having idle problems with my d16z6. when my car warms up, it will idle between 500-1200 rpms and it almost dies when it surges. sometimes it does die. i have a really god awful smell coming from my exhaust and my fuel pressure goes up and down with idle, naturally. could this be the iacv?? it only does it sometimes so i dont think it could be the tps. thanks

first, do you have any cel? what is the environment/situation when it occurs? have you done any recent work to the car just before this started to occur? have you tried pulling the iacv and cleaning it? is the smell of fuel/gas?

i have cleaned out my iacv and my fast idle valves. it has gotten progressively worse over the past couple weeks. i have also cleaned out my throttle body and tried adjusting my throttle cable and i have no CEL. i dont know what the smell is but its a putrid smell. it dies sometimes at red lights and after running it for a while like on the highway. it only does this when it gets warm

mods? Maybe it need to be tuned?

also i have tried bypassing my coolant lines around my fast idle valve but it still idles horribly

IHE, Rc injectors, fuel rail, adjustable FPR, bullfrog cam, bullfrog throttle body, intake manifold, spoon chipped ecu, vafc, denso iridium plugs, 9.3mm wires, msd ignition

it was running fine a couple weeks ago and i have done no mods since

Your Cat is clogged, or you have a bad cat, that awful smells sounds like a bad cat to me.

Might be your catalic converter check it out. Turn the car in and let it idle there get on ur knees and see if the cat is bright red... if it is it's your cat.

oh ok. well there is a rattle like exhaust rattle coming from under my car around my cat, i thought it just may have been a flange gasket but i dont know
