Mid-engine or Rear-engine vehicles (a'la Porsche, MR-2, etc) will be classified with FR vehicles.

Event points will be calculated in-class based on your time (low score is good)
Knock a cone out of the box/over = +2 sec
Off course = no score

This will be an autocross-style event. If you are not driving you will be asked to shag cones. Fortunately, the entire course is only comprised of 15 cones!

To register using paypal, please visit http://www.dgtrials.com/events.php and click on the link that says "Open" next to the event you want to register for.

To register NOT using paypal, send check or money order for $45, payable to DGTrials to:
DGTrials
375 Rockbridge Road NW
Suite #172-405
Lilburn, GA 30047

As for the course layout, there is only one which all cars will be running. However, there are two options within the course where you can pick what particular direction you'd like or how to turn around (dotted lines represent this option on the above map).

Media registration forms have just been posted at http://www.dgtrials.com/forms.php You can submit it electronically or print it out and bring it with you the day of the event. Forms will be reviewed and approved prior to the event; media passes will be available day-of.

Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here or shoot us an email at [email protected]

We look forward to seeing you!

Why not just autocross.....?

I MIGHT sign up if I want more track time.Autocross can be repetitive and boring...gymkhana is a combination of autocross, drifting, and the higher speeds of time attack.

I thought gymkhana was slow...

you probably wont even get out of first gear on that little course!

I think gymkhana is interesting and I would go but i feel like i would be tearing up my car (same reason i never tried the drift events) and also the entry fee is more expensive

I thought gymkhana was slow...nah, does that loop all the way around the course look slow to you? How many autocross courses have you seen with that long of a straight and sweeping turn? ;)

Please explain to me how big or little that course is? I don't see a scale anywhere...

Yes, i have the secret VTEC edition miata, lol

Gymkhana courses are TIGHT. If there was a lot of space between the cones than it would just be a regular autocross. Here is a good gymkhana vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJrEJb0HaeYBOTH my parents were doing Gymkhana events over 10 years before you were born ;)

...and I can get plenty of photos from the 60's and 70's proving that Gymkhana style events are not new to the US.

Here's a 65-70mph slalom, of course in a 700hp AWD scooby but still you get the idea, there will be "slow" parts around the barrels for most people but you get the idea... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh-N4OOj1tQ

It all depends on the location and who sets up the course. The American style gymkhana has higher speeds in it...you know how fast people were going in the longer stretches of the Drift Fury and DG Trial events at turner field right? This event will be no differant...it's a mix of high and low speed.

SampaGuy
11-02-2007, 10:02 AM
well im pretty sure dgtrials is doing the JDM version of gymkhana

and i know ive hit at least 45mph in an autocross course with my underpowered miata, would be faster with that 700hp subaru. it really depends on the course design.

Nashville was a BLAST!!
I will def be there for the Turner event.

It was my first time driving, so I pretty much sucked...but I had a lot of fun. DGTrials had/will have instructors on hand to help out with anyone who wants help. Good stuff.

It was not too slow, but not too fast either...got into 2nd gear a few times on the small sweeper, and every time on the large sweeper.

Unless you are a compete idiot and plow through all the cones, I doubt you will tear up a car out there. Might knock off the outer layer of rubber from the tires, but thats about it. No promises though...

Elbow
11-26-2007, 08:59 AM
So it is slower then auto x?

redgst97
11-26-2007, 09:45 AM
I have never driven in auto-x, so I cannot answer that. This was my first time driving at any event.

I think the course is designed to be technical, fun, and somewhat fast. Obviously, parts could be moved outward to make it faster, or inward to make it slower, and probably more technical.
