this thread is dedicated to those interesting, under the radar, kinda hush hush stories that float around...some are true, some are urban legends. i'll start it off with this:
Cash Money Records was around alot longer than you think. I believe their first release dates back to 1992 with Kilo G. In 1993, their premier act, U.N.L.V. put out their album "6th & Barrone". over the next few years, cash money releases would total up to over hundreds of thousands sold, and that's what leads to the blockbuster deal with Universal Records towards the end of 1997.
now rewind to about 1995/1996. U.N.L.V., consisting of three members, Tec-9, Lil Ya, and Yella Boy, were having label discrepencies with none other than Baby aka Birdman (this is a familiar story). Now is where it gets interesting. During this time, Yella Boy was murdered. No one was ever arrested (in typical hip hop homicide fashion). Many speculate that since their was a dispute with Baby, he had put the hit out on Yella Boy. It was said that Yella Boy often fought with Baby over money, and he once pulled a pistol on him, as well as punching him in the eye.
-Now is that the same eye where Baby has a tear-drop tattoo? the tear-drop tattoo which is supposed to symbolize a notch under your belt in terms of you know what? we'll never know.
ya'll might think Baby is corny, and Baby is all about the bling...but regardless if he commissioned this crime or not...he easily could have, and he had/has a lot of say in the New Orleans scene.

I never knew that about Yella Boy. Wow. But I'd think if that's how it went down, then some1 woulda retaliated on Baby.

They are. That's why people are exposing him for the double entendre when Lil Weezy calls him Baby. Later, QD.
