well i've been wanting a swap for a while and i came across a good deal on a 91 si engine. rebuilt with 55,000 on it. my engine still runs fine so untill i destroy it i am going to do some insane building on this one... any good parts or things i definately need to add would be helpful.

would they be pretty quick with a turbo kit?

they would  but i cant get the same power out of them as u could from a DOHC..

you can get just as much power out of single cam as you could a dual its all in the build

yea it's time for a new engine i was thinking gsr or b20........... but a badass d series would be way cooler than a bseries swap that everyone has.

d-series are limited to around 400 on the average build like mine. they make power just fine and are way cheaper.

my setup consists of
d16z6
Eagle rods
wiseco pistons
Arp headstuds
cometic .051 MLS headgasket
crower valvesprings and retainers
stock cam
y8 intake manifold
competition 7lbs flywheel
competition prostreet clutch
z6 trans(needs an obx lsd)
Silly Sohc equal length AC compatible ramhorn manifold.
3" DP with electronic cutout
turbonetics .63 .60
TiAL 50mm BOV
TiAL 38mm wastegate.

its really all in the tuning and the way you drive it if it will last. mine is lasting just fine. Still runs right now, but i pulled everything back out of my car to clean up the engine bay a little.

your setup is good for 450whp all day long. Ive seen people run 400+ on stock d16 heads with vitara builds and that **** last 2 plus years. Throw a cam in it and it will make a big difference.

Hey man (Rhyne -sp?) I don't think you ever specificed if you wanted to go N/A or boost?

I like playing with the SOHC engine. I had a nice 11:1CR (mild N/A build) D16A6 that I built myself, and even with stock head and cam it'd run neck and neck with B16A swaps and actually outran a few of my friends' LS swaps also.

For boost? Hell yes. They are cheap as hell to begin with, and once you boost it enough who cares if it's a SOHC or DOHC, honestly? Of course yoiu'll need more boost to reach the same whp goals as the DOHC motors, and thus the reliability may suffer some the more power you sqyeeze from it, but i'd never say SOHC are worthless.

I like them all - D, B, H, F, K - if done right they are all respectable IMO.

i really like d-series.com for info on my jrsc D. they're a really big help. You should go with the d-series, its cheaper to build, its more original, and its easier to surprize people when you beat them and they look at your engine bay.
