ok i have a 99 prelude with a little less than 100k miles on the h22a4. im boosting it and i would like to know how much boost i can push on the stock block with a cometic head gasket and arp head studs. my friend told me 6-9 safe but i wanted a second oppinion. lmk. thanks.

I say 7, reason why its a open deck, if it was like the 92-95 H22 they have a closed, deck, better for boost, an Never Run un tuned,

6-9 is not safe. You will be able to run the car even with a good tune, but the sleeves will give out eventually. 5PSI is best + longevity.

0psi is best for longevitiy. lol. stock h22 sleeves are some of the strongest honda makes. they contain aluminum in their FRM compound, so they dont work well with forged aluminum pistons. the sleeves usally crap out at 14-15psi. longevity depends mostly on the driver.

im planning on building the block up later so a lot of this wouldnt be a problem later on but the general census is 7psi. so thanks a lot everyone. and tuning i know is a must an untuned boosted car FTL and for the broken.

we got one guy sayin 5, another 7, another 9...ok...

run 35+ psi

everymotor is different. You 100k mile manual tranny motor might let go at 7 psi where as a easy driven automatic H22 might last longer. It's a guessing game. I say start off at 5. get it tuned see where ur numbers are. Might be able to go to 7 thats about it.
