You should find the heads with VTEC. You'll gain an instant 200whp but loose torque

well i would do K20 heads. Have that I-VTEC... do that and DIABLO-DATA
so you can use the honda vtec headS with the diablo chip tuned with hondata:goodjob:

OR do some AFR heads...

your choice

eldebrock performer RPM's do really great, AFR 165, and the trickflow twisted wedge heads are ok to make sure you dont to big of a valve that will not hit the piston is case you over rev it.

yea, my whole goodies list for this part of the build is GT-40X heads (and yes they work on the 5.0s), 1.65 roller rockers, E-303 cam, all new gaskets, headbolts, and timing chain, Forged pistons, and HD forged steel connecting rods. im pretty set on the GT-40 X heads becuase i am only shooting for 400hp with the charger. so i dont need to go rediculous huge. all i need is some good used GT-40x's for a good price.

The x heads are nice. I had them on a 331 stroker and they flowed very well. Just do a little clean up on the bowls before installing and o-ring them.

what he said, X heads do well all motor i had friend of mine with 347 with X heads went 11.2's on motor with TKO 5-speed i wanna say it dyno'd high 300's on motor it was good running combo but a little driver error consistantly on the 2-3 shift i think probably a good 11.0's on motor, what bottom end are you using? is it a forge piston short block??? i seen a stock short block with the TFS head intake and and stage 1 cam combo on stock bottom end go a 10.60 before with 460RWHP tuned by scott that owned prospeed i think now he's at modular powerhouse

Scott owns Coupe Performance in Porterdale and is very well known for porting heads and dyno tuning, don't even know if he knows' Tim @ MPH. Jeff owns ProSpeed with a dyno while doing excellent work but does not port heads and is combining with Tim @ MPH as we speak.

I have a stock bottom end 302 B cam with Edelbrock heads runs a 12.0 through an auto and a 10.40 on a 150 shot.

I also have a Trick Flow headed 306 car that weighs less through an auto runs 12.10's on motor with a stage ll cam and way more engine. Add the bottle and it just does get in the high 10's.

Then I have a full interior coupe with nothing gutted (full weight with heat, stereo, Etc.) junkyard 302 motor with an E cam and Edelbrock heads out of the box running low 12's no juice what so ever.

The TFS are ok but I don't like to be limited on choices so I would recommend the Edelbrock's over everything suggested except maybe some AFR 185's if you have enough motor.

No offense to anyone but I wouldn't run any of the Gt-40 heads unless they are free or close to it. Go ahead and save for what you want instead of settling for something that you won't be happy with.

There is a set of Gt 40's on SCF for $300 that is well worth it if your interested.

JMO.

He is talking about the 5.0 style heads that came on some of the 302 Explorers in the mid 90's except for the X heads which are aluminum after market. I think you have the new GT-40 car in mind with the mod motor.

I have a 94 Gt 302 with an E cam, Edelbrock heads out of the box, RR's, 5 speed and one of the old ****ty Powerdyne S/C and on a safe tune it made over 450 at the rear tires.

go get some gt-40 p heads from an explorer 5.0 and the intake and take them to a machine shop get them ported and you should be good. afr's are kinda pricey i think.

If ya look at the cost he would be better off getting the Edelbrock's instead of the Gt40P's IMO. Gt-40P's are gonna be $400-$500 used and then to be ported probably another $400-$500 (I pay $600) when he can get a brand new fully assembled set of Edelbrock Aluminum heads for $1k.

My wife ran some 7.70's/12.20's on "P" heads in her full weight T-Top all motor so there are a lot of good options but they all revolve around the cash flow. :)

If I went with any of the combo kits available including the Holley SysteMAX I would have to sway towards this one.

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL%2D2091&autoview=sku

Here are the Edelbrock aluminum heads from Summit for just a little over 1k a pair. If you have any connections from a dealer you can get them a good bit cheaper.

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL%2D60279&N=700+400065+4294867081+4294908331+4294840126+4294 867028+4294924929+115&autoview=sku

302 and 351 heads will interchange depending on deck height, Etc. stock for stock you should have no problem swapping them.

When I build a small HP street engine I usually always go with the pedestal mount heads to keep it simple so you can just slap on the rockers and torque them to 22 ft lbs or so and let it ride. Just FYI.

Brock if you go to SCF and post a WTB in the for sale/wtb section you will get several cam replies and should be able to get what ever you want in good condition for $100 and sometimes I pick them up for less. If you find one and need my opinion of the seller just shoot me a PM. I have dealt with almost everyone on there and had some really good deals.
