im growing way outta the honda phase right now...I'm looking to get a 94' or 95' mustang gt cause they pull way harder than any honda ive been in with just basic mods, plus rwd is a big plus...but anyways I was wondering how long the motors last? I've been told 100k on a mustang is very high im thinking of getting a friends mustang but it has roughly 103k on it and I don't feel like fixing any more cars right now i just want something decent. (im also looking into a ca18det 240 as well but i know turbo motors=boom sooner or later any help on either would be appreciated.

I know of some Foxbodys for sale at reasonable prices. I have one myself - but it's not for sale. :-)

It all depends on who your buying the car from.. Find one that someone takes care of. and i dont mean changing oil i mean someone who knows how to drive the car..

I have had a few mustangs I still have my 67 and my 92 5.0 coupe the 302 are strong motors i would not worry about one with over 100k.they will go to 200k if they are well maintained!

5.0L is a very strong motor and they can take one hell of a beating.they respond very well to nitrous and turbos or both at the same time :)

i prefer a nice cam/heads/headers on a 5.0L over spray or boost nothing sounds sweeter than a cammed 302...

yea if i did the only things i would do would be exhaust system and cam..ill be taking a small loan out pretty soon to get one

To get the most out of a cam in those motors you gotta ditch the heads. Still good motors even with the heads they got.

X2, one of the motors in my cars right now has 150k on it, never been rebuilt started life in a gsp stang, had 150 shot on it, then a procharger, then a s trim, then 150 shot, and now has a 76mm blowing through it and I haven't split the block yet. (Crosses fingers) Doesn't burn or use a drop of oil, I just hope it lives to see 200k lol. All in all pretty reliable, I would have no qualms about driving a well maintained 5.0 with 300k a crossed the country... but that could be said with most decent cars.

5.0s are good motors and cheap to mod. Theres tons of aftermarket for mustangs, its a good platform

id say go for it man the 94-95 gt with the 5.0 is a great car...they don't make much power stock but the 5.0 been around for so long the parts are a dime a dozen. you get a complete 347 stroker kit for around 1k.

I don't care for 5.0's personally, but then again, I have odd tastes.

WTF?

i have had 2 gt a 95 and 98 i bought the 95 with 110K and drove it till 185K and sold it for 500 less then what i bought it for and all i replaced was a clutch and starter and you can have a **** load of fun in them but IMO Cobra ftw everyone in the world either owned or has a GT and cobra just sounds better when someone ask what do you drive but thats just my 2 cents
