Hmm...They'll cost about the same amount of money....but, i was wondering, which would give me more of a gain??
I've read that headers will give me ~10HP, and that plug wires can give me 5 - 10HP.....I dunno though....
Could they be BS claims..??
Other mods: ram-air intake, straight through exhast pipes, PCV breather mod...
Thats all i've done to the engine... Can anyone give me an estimate or comparison on gains??

first off you only have a header
well if your buying header that cost the same as plug wires they prolly wont be getting you 10hp and yes they could be bs claims
do what you want. if you stock plug wires are fine get a nice header.

well..its more like, header = $100 - 181
''performance'' plugwires = $75 - 110

There's no need for performance wires if your are car isnt mod (judging by your avator). I would throw on boltons 1st and then start thinking about replacing stuff that doesn't need to be replace with performance counterparts (ex fuel filters, wires,.....)

Well, i know for a fact that, with MY car, when i get a header it'll also help a LOT to get a stiffer motor mount also...Not 100% why, but i read that on a j-body forum..

lol i guess i dont know about thoose cars but why would a header make you want motor mounts? and i agree with big dare. plug wire and all that wait till the end

I would go with bolt-ons (headers) and would just upgrade wires when car gets tune-up

Because, these car's have fairly weak motor mounts, and when you rev the engine, you can see the engine MOVE in the engine bay...
and, when you install a performance header, since the engine moves, and the PERFORMANCE header doesnt have the ability to flex where the header connects to the downpipe, like the stock header does, it'll end up getting bent and leaky when the engine moves on the stock mounts

fill your motor mounts search a 240 forum about it

Headers. Save for MSD or something. You get an engine breathing right and itll make the world of difference.

Why would you buy more than one header for your car? Or is it not for the Pontiac? Later, QD.

just kidding = you do have body roll and the "wheel hop" is really your tires not adhearing to the road. you are about to slide off the road and die in a fire...not wheel hopping. trust me, if you were wheel hopping at 50mph you would not be driving what you are driving. you would be in something that actually makes power. i think you have your terminolgy a little confused..and by a little i mean alot

why are you gonna let the kid think he is wheel hopping at 50 mph through those turns??? we must be talking about 2 different types of wheel hop.

Depending how he's driving the car, it is very possible. I wheel-hopped my Neon on many occasions, man. It wasn't any more powerful than his Saturn. Well a bit more, but not much. Later, QD.

i didnt crack on your neon..i cracked on ****ty cars. just because your neon fell into that category is not my fault. hell the civic falls in the same category, i will admit that..but im hardly following the herd....i leave to the religious folks who believe in magic

Spark plug wires don't add power.
japan4racing
10-08-2007, 10:57 PM
seriously..if you must buy something go with the header. the wires are not gonna do much for you..niether is the header but it will do more than the wires. you are obviously just getting intot his and learning. it takes time and you eventually learn. just make sure to do research before buying to make sure you get the best product for your car. its hard to do that stuff with no aftermarket support but it can be done. i have a mazda 323 running low 14's back in 2001 or so

Good words of advice, man. The header will work much better when outfitted with the intake and exhaust system. Later, QD.

if youre getting wheelhop at 50 you might wanna invest in new suspension and/or good shocks like konis.
if youre looking for power, go with the header. wires will probably not help much if at all.

a header is your best bet. But a nice 4-2-1 header, remove ur cat and get some nice mpg and a lil bit hore hp. buy some cheap as wires if u think u need them.
your not boosted or anything so no need for really expensive wires right now

b/c THEY are morons. Some of the guys on here have some serious Honda love. They wont race you b/c it would be a waste of their time. No affense. A lot of people dont take Sunfire's seriously. I've driven one, they have no guts. It's your car, and if you like, who gives a **** right?
get a header...

^^ thats the dealer hp ratings.
I had a '98 EX with AEM cold air, Skunk 2 intake manifold, 4-2-1 header, no cat, Skunk 2 exhaust at it pulled 118hp to the ground.
