....

have a trucker question for you...

Kelly and i were wondering.... Do truckers slam on their brakes to avoid hitting large game like deer? or is it easier to just keep on keepin on...

like which causes more damage???

cause i have seen some nasty messes on the road where you can just tell an extremely large truck was involved hitting a deer at clearly high speed...

(sorry for the name... came out of nowhere)

Lolol @ name:

We are told to keep on trucking when deer are present. A whole lot less costly to hit a deer and replace a bumper or fender than it is to replace a whole truck, another vehicle or settle a fatality lawsuit. Later, QD.

In class they teach you to just keep on keepin on. You swerve and you can take out a family near you, but you saved a deer...See what I am getting at?

that's what i figured... i mean... in any large vehicle i figured that's the best option...

but in some of those smaller cars say a hatch for instance.. that deer would be through the windshield and in your lap before you new it...

but i didn't think it would do anything but cosmetic damage to an 18wheeler....

I don't know what class you are talking about but if you are in a smaller car and hit a deer at high speeds that ****** can easily kill you. You run over **** like dogs, squirrels and other rodents but not deer, your suppose to get the **** out of its way if you can.

I would say its a decision based on the situation. Each situation probably would be different. If its a dog, its game; an elk, $$.

No love, not drivers ed. In order to get a "trucking license" they tell u that it is just safer to hit the animal than to kill a family.

Not in a truck. It's fair "game" for us. We can't just swerve to the side with 60' of 40 tons of steel beneath us, lolol. If you're in the road, you're history. Sounds mean and ****ed up, but I'd rather smack a deer around than the Johnson clan. I might think twice if it was the Kowalowski or the Patel family. Later, QD.

I haven't had that experience anymore. We have watched, over the last couple of months, two fawns outgrow their spots. They come in our backyard daily with the doe, but the doe was killed a couple of weeks ago by a car. Later, QD.

Has anyone ever seen a deer that has been hit by a motorcycle? Sh*t's nasty, you end up with 2 sides of a deer on the road, blood everywhere, it's pretty gross. I'd imagine if I had been younger and seen it I would be traumatized.

Hmmm, well that sucks about the doe.

We're going camping in the Smokies this weekend. I'm sure we'll see lots of them.
Hopefully they're all sane though...
