Moderately fun, RWD, & driveable...not for me but just a general challenge to see what can be found. Obviously it's going to be 80's (or before) considering the price: E30, MR2, AE86, FC, etc. -- find it! Don't forget to attach or hotlink pics!

1986 Dodge Omni GLH

http://dempseybowling.com/sheldodg/glht_blu.jpg

Big news for the 85 model year was the same turbomotor seen in the Shelby Charger. Note that it was optional in the GLH; the high-output carburated engine (along with its lower-geared transmission) remained standard equipment. The turbocharged engine produced the same 146 hp as in the Shelby Charger, and was backed by the same taller-geared (3.56:1) 5-speed transmission. The new 5-lug aluminum "pizza" wheels (Seen on the car below) were installed, also like on the 85 Shelby Charger, but an important distinction is that the GLH still wore 195/50s, even with the turbo engine. When so equipped, the turbocharged engine pushed the GLH from 0-60 in 7.5 seconds and through the quarter in 15.8 seconds at 87 mph; top speed was up to 119 mph. Also new that year were black side skirts and a black airdam; they were part of the GLH Performance package.

Later, QD.

Later, QD.Couldn't you bump up to the GLHS for roughly the same price?

Not necessarily, but I don't recall the Miata being an 80s car and I believe Jason was mentioning 80s cars is what he wanted to look at. Also, the young folks, all they know are Miata, Civic and 240. There are ****loads better cars for the tuning world than those 3. Later, QD.

im pretty sure the omni is fwd. but if u ask me its the most over looked an under appreciated car ever made. the stock motor can hold up to like 35-375 ish hp. u buy the car get a boost controler and a good exhaust, and u have the ULTIMATE SLEEPER.

I bought my other 88 for $500 running :dunno: its never gave me problems, through the 89 i bought for $2500 was a nightmare when i first bought it.....the good thing about the MKI is that there are TONS of them, and typically the ppl owning them take decent care of them. Also the resale on the cars is very low. So the chance of finding one in good condition for cheap is very manageable
