CRXchic's Florida pictures inspired me...so I feel like showing off my trip through India that I went on a couple years ago. The trip wasn't bad...I got sick a couple times and I was a little irate about having my last summer before college devoured by the trip...but it was quite an experience.

India is an amazing place to visit, and it has developed so much in such a short time. There's so much to see too. The pictures are loosely in order, from North India to South India, so notice how different it is.

The only problem I had with the trip is that it took away my last summer before college, but then again...I doubt I'll have another opportunity to do anything like that again. That was the first time I've actually gone on an "India" trip. Normally...we just go to New Delhi (North India) and Hyderabad (South India) to visit my mom's side of the family...there's just so much in between. We actually went all over India this time.

Yes, that is a monkey...there were actually seven or eight of them. The owners of the hotel get pissed, because monkeys are crafty mother****ers and they always steal food from the hotel's restaurant.

It only smells bad in some areas...and the bad smell is really just diesel exhaust that overpowers everything. Up in the mountains though...it was just amazing. That was my favorite part of the trip. Haha...and the drive up the foothills...you mountain runners would've had a blast. Of course, we were in an old Mercedes Sprinter (The one above the 'sleeper truck' picture)...so we couldn't really go more than 20 mph.

I'll be back with more pictures. These are more of South India.

@81911...:lmfao: I thought you would've pulled out the Top Gun jokes sooner.

The waters of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and an area of the Indian Ocean called the Laccadive Sea all meet here. It's interesting because you can see the different colors of each body of water. Look west and you'll see the Arabian sea...which is blue, look south and you'll see the Indian Ocean which is a darker deeper blue, and look east and you'll see the Bay of Bengal, which is more green. It's said that it's good luck to wash your feet in the waters.

The tigers were nothing short of stunning. I never realize how big those things are. They were pretty docile too...probably because they're used to people passing through...but I can understand. "Don't bother us, we won't bother you."

SMALL ****ING WORLD!!! My dad plays music with a guy who's from the Trivandrem area (South India, where most of the last photos were taken). It turns out...the guys who were playing in the restaurant knew him!

Dancing peacock! Photos don't do it justice...the colors are amazing. Look at the bird he's spitting game at in the background. I wish we could've gotten more of his head though. This is also on another safari.

Too bad...looks like he wasn't fly enough. He came close to us though, and we got an excellent shot.

This is a Kingfisher...it's sort of hard to tell, but look at the flash of blue in the center of the photo. These are darty little birds...pretty hard to get a shot of them
http://lh3.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzW0g1IABI/AAAAAAAABLM/zSrotUJJSpM/IMG_0696.jpg?imgmax=576

Tiger tracks! You can't tell, but those are actually the size of my face.

Why did the peacock cross the road?
http://lh3.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzZmUItABI/AAAAAAAABOU/nNvRhIw6Y44/IMG_0721.jpg?imgmax=576

Inside the jeep...it's basically a long-wheelbase Suzuki Samurai. Very rugged vehicle.
http://lh5.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzaVw5VABI/AAAAAAAABPE/-umA7thYPE4/IMG_0727.jpg?imgmax=576

If this baby elephant looks like it's about to charge, it's because it actually was. It did two turns and kicked up some dust...probably because it got scared by the jeep.
http://lh5.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzacvteABI/AAAAAAAABPM/A9zZKLCHfXE/IMG_0728.jpg?imgmax=576

The mom told it to hush up though. As you can see...he's still mad at us.

Then we went to Bangalore...sort of the Silicon Valley of India. We're in a mall-type area at Cafe Coffee Day. These are some of our family friends. They used to live in Suwanee...now they live in Bangalore.

http://lh3.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzb5G2-ABI/AAAAAAAABRE/FvgJHjysCK0/IMG_0746.jpg?imgmax=576

Then we went to a place called Jaipur. If you're going to go to India...do not miss Jaipur. The next sets of photos will explain why.

This is a peacock chillin' on our hotel's roof. There were about 20 of them...and yes, they're beautiful, but not when they're making their mating calls at 5 in the morning. Those things are LOUD!
http://lh4.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzcmJtHABI/AAAAAAAABSk/uIaA1E4EGTU/IMG_0761.jpg?imgmax=576

My sister and I sweating like hell in our hotel room. Yes...this is a hotel room.

http://lh4.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzdyoNxABI/AAAAAAAABVE/zFLUoYsIlj0/IMG_0782.jpg?imgmax=576

Building called the Hawa Mahal...look at the construction. It's actually built in a way that keeps air flowing though the street to keep temperatures down. There's the same building on the opposite side.
http://lh6.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzelWNcABI/AAAAAAAABWU/7JwEpBTsy2A/IMG_0792.jpg?imgmax=576

Streets of Jaipur.
http://lh6.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzepU-AABI/AAAAAAAABWc/wMKbKWXrPZQ/IMG_0793.jpg?imgmax=576

A fort called Jai Mahal.
http://lh3.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzerihsABI/AAAAAAAABWk/d61jUCCyXH0/IMG_0794.jpg?imgmax=576

Another fort.
http://lh5.google.com/rnsingh00/RMzexSdvABI/AAAAAAAABW0/JfPqy5Ls32g/IMG_0796.jpg?imgmax=576

This is the only way to get to the fort. Cars aren't allowed up there. Elephant **** is the size of watermelons...and it sounds like one breaking every time it hits the ground. Urine comes out like a firehose too... :upchuck:

They're extremely intellegent. See how it's raising it's trunk? That's their way of saluting their passengers. It did it again too for the photo...it recognizes cameras!

Entrance to Amber Fort. These next few are from inside the hilltop fort. Again, photos don't do justice to some of this stuff. The mirrors are actually made from silver foil, pressed over stone, and sandwiched under a piece of glass. They're just like real mirrors, except they are still good as new after many hundreds of years.

This is at the Jaipur observatory. This was incredible. They have the world's largest sundial here...along with a bunch of other sun guided time pieces. They have a sun calender that gives you the date and time, and it is accurate within two minutes. TWO MINUTES OF ERROR ON A SUN GUIDED CALENDAR! I can't imagine the engineering behind that...and this is 17th century stuff! The king in power at the time was an accomplished scientist.
