IS it DBB?

SPOOLIN

no, turbonetics does not produce a dual ball bearing turbo, only single ball bearing and journal style. this one is not ball bearing at all though.

How quick do those kind of big turbo spools up? and what rpm do you get full boost?

see ya 240love.

SPOOLIN

it really depends on what motor and head flow and everything. You can get full spool between 6800 and 7400 on a honda, at 28 psi, but i dont know about a 240sx, they flow a lot different. Thats what i gather you have from your entry and screenname.

Just get a GT35R and call it a day. It'll make the power you need. I hit full spool at about 4,200RPMs IIRC.

nah im pretty sure youll never see me with a ball bearing turbo on a drag car. GT35R give out USUALLY at 600-650, And thats going past its efficiency range.

Install a 50 shot. Crazy fast spool, 680-700whp, and a quality turbo. What more could you ask for?

I already told him to do a 35R make 650 an call it a day.

or a GT4094 :)

Spoolin is afraid of the BB turbos=weaksauce

Spoolin, i know we used to share the same opinions on the BB turbos, but in reality ive only seen good numbers from the BB turbos

call me , we need to talk

SPOOLIN

BB turbos put out just as good of numbers as their journal counterparts, the biggest thing is the comparison between the GT4294 and the GT4294R, the journal spooled 400rpm slower and made the same power. If a ball bearing turbo goes out, you are screwed money wise on fixing it. Thats what i look at. they have great longevity but, what if.

BUMP :)

= waste of time, those people over there are JACKASSES. I drove all the way to the V to sell a guy a turbo and he misread the post and I drove all that way for nothing. There was no way that the post was edited b/c it was posted by a reputable guy on there that we are friends with.

Time for a Borg Warner unit!!! Check out the thread on H-t all you need to know. AAP has been running these turbos for a season and a half w/ phenominal results. Chris Anderson just installed a NLR AMS-1000 boost controller last week for next season. All their cars have been running only low boost/high boost setups and running mid 8 second passes w/ these turbos. Luis Curujo(Paradise Racing Celica), Christian Rado(World Racing Scion), Brian Ballard, Central Florida Turbo(NHRA SFWD East Coast Champion) all run the BW units. Now even Tony1 and Joe Simpson have switched for the upcoming Pomona race!!

I'm telling you those turbos are right up your alley. They're cheaper that the Garretts, they aren't ball bearing, they have the same spool charateristics as BB turbos(if not better), and they outpower the BB units!!

SPOOLIN

yeah i know all that, that turbo is really nice, but due to the way we constructed my current setup, that turbo may be unfeasible unless i use a return pump for the oil return. I may go down to whats still good to a lot of people and not really what "everyone uses" anymore.
