i did some reseach on an all motor LS and it say that no matter how much u put ur time into a LS by builting it up, it will always run like a stock GS R w/o any aftermarket part bolt on..
i just need some idea on an all motor LS. :goodjob: thanx for ur time..

There was a guy with b16 pistons and bolt-ons making 180hp to the wheel. check h-t allmotor section for info.

There are a couple NA LS setups on HT pushing 200+ on HT.

In order to get decent power without vtec, you MUST be pushing at LEAST 12.0:1 and running some nasty cams to take advantage of that high comp. 1mm oversized valves are a plus, but depending on which piston you choose, you may have clearance issues. ITBs aren't necessary... Edelbrock PerformerX manifold is.

Anything over 70mm in the TB dept. is overkill and even with a 70mm TB, you'd have to get your manifold port matched. Choose your header carefully, you pay for what you get in that dept. I have a set of LS custom grinds from RocketMotorsports in my room that'd I'd sell you if you're interested.

precision and planning is the key to power when it comes to NA.

precision is expensive

not really worth the money.

you can bolt a VTEC head onto an LS block an make 160whp BONE STOCK block and head.

IT takes a pretty good LS motor to make those numbers (pistons, big cams, valvetrain, etc).

Spending any amount of money on a car is a losing proposition from the beginning... as we all know, it's not about the money... it's about what a person wants in his car.

Here is a setup i found on HT recently:

good for 211 whp 161 tq
B18B motor Benson sleeved to 85mm. Wiseco 11.5:1 pistons-IB rods. LS crank knife edged and balanced by Castillo's Crankshaft, teflon coated by IB. IB ported LS head (P75). Stock valves, JG springs and retainers. Crower 405A cams. JDM ITR header, no cat, stock ITR cat back, GSR muffler. Blox intake manifold, custom velocity stack intake. Precision 440 cc injectors. Hondata S300.

thats a dyna pack, thats why those numbers are high. I would do an LS/Vtec , we just built one that made right at 200whp.

Put that same car on a mustang dyno, and you might see a loss of about 15-20whp; that is still a very strong number for a LS na. Especially since he is only running 11.5:1 pistons. :goodjob:

awesome, glad you believe everything on HT.

now, thats a great $10,000 motor, but if you put a VTEC head on that bottom end it would have made 230whp.

VTEC>NONVTEC

unless you are in a specific class that limits you to an LS motor, there is NO REASON not to use vtec. IT MAKE MORE POWER, PERIOD. those that want to be different, im telling you you will spend THOUSANDS more dollars to make LESS POWER than guys USING VTEC.

if that sounds like you, then go ahead an be different

a friend of mines had a n/a ls. It did good for what it was. Stock ls bottomend besides the b16 pistons, ported/polished head/and stock LS intake manifold w/ Crower cams springs and retainers, B16 throttle body, Kamikazee header w/ 2.5" exhaust, and msd ingnition. He made right at 180whp. And ran 13.5's in his DC integra. This was his everyday driver. Not knocking it one bit. It beat ALOT of ppl! But he went vtec eventually and he said he couldnt believe what he had been missng out on.
But me personally, i'm bias to the vtec heads here too. I've had LS's and vtec's. Both boosted and N/A's. But most of my enjoyment is with the vtec's.Even right now my stock jdm itr is making 190whp/135w.torque.
Build what you want to build. Everyone has they way of doin things and what they like. See if you can suprise us with some big ###'s out of an LS. Good luck with you quest.

Wow, you're stock ITR is making 190whp? Thats some damn good numbers for a stock motor....

Stock motor... I guess i should specify that for some. Of course i have 2.5 exhaust,DC 4-1, s300, 370cc, and sucking thru a factory eg air box. Ed @ Balance Performance is who tunes all my setups. Peter(ispracing)was there, and another friend of ours, Trinh.
