Also, in Japanese 'Toyo' means an abundance of, and 'ta' is rice. In some Asian cultures, those blessed with an abundance of rice are believe to be blessed with great wealth.

Now that's just wrong. :lmao:

I posted this(not same site) a long time ago. It's a very cool history lesson. Good post. Later, QD.

I've seen similiar sites before, and it's interesting that there are common ideas throughout most of the sites, but then they all have different "according to so and so" aspects of the logos. One of our assignments last year was to re-design a car logo... hard as ****. Have to do a LOT of research on the company and everything, and we all got assigned car companies that had iconic, easily recognizable symbols. My group had Ford... Other people in the class had Dodge, Chevrolet, MB, Honda, and BMW.

Kinda neat, I was born in Stuttgart. And yea history kinda simple behind H, A, and Nissan, but they did put ford up there, and all it was about was typing ford and putting a circle around it...

Porsche logo
The Porsche badge is the coat of arms of the city of Stuttgart (where the cars are built). The city was built on the site of a stud farm, which explains the horse in the coat of arms; the antlers and red and black stripes are part of the arms of the Kingdom of Wurttemberg.

Cool stuff...I knew some of these, but I thought the current Mazda logo was supposed to be an "M".

I like the original SAAB logo...the one in my avatar. The Griffin looks pretty bad-ass though.

yea no honda or acura

I know the Acura symbol is supposed to be a caliper...something like this.

It's supposed to represent the "accurate" and "precise" engineering of their cars...get it, Acura...accurate. :goodjob:
