Ok, so I'm getting married in a few weeks and I would like to have a fairly decent tan for my honeymoon. Problem is that I'm very fair skinned and I don't really "tan" so to speak, so natural light and tanning beds have no good effects on me. It's more of a burn and then I'm white again. Does anyone have any experience with the whole spray tan thing?

lol. i feel ya on the whole burn and then white again thing. spray tan works. but the experience sucks. just don't breathe in at all.

I would go get it done sometime soon, just to see what it does. If you like it, get it done again before youre wedding, I've seen it turn some people orange and I'm sure you don't want to be orange for your wedding.

First spray your arm. if it turns orange..burn the bottle.
just go to the tanning bed.. even if you burn, you still tan.. just do shorter sequences and do alot.. spray tan ftl..

I wouldn't go to the tanning bed only a few weeks away from the wedding. If something goes wrong you don't wanna be walking down the isle all red.
Spray tan's generally work well and blends pretty good (store bought) Sometimes I use it to cover my tan lines and I spray it onto a sponge (miniature one for makeup use) and spotting on the area.
good luck

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm definitely going to go to a tanning salon and let a professional do the spray tan. I'll do a test run on it tomorrow and see how it turns out. I definitely don't want to be orange! I wish tanning beds worked, but I'm so fair skinned that I really don't tan. And I only have 2.5 weeks, so there is no way I'll get a decent tan in that time!

I got a Mystic Tan once. It sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a terrible, scarring experience while getting sprayed. It got in my nose. It didn't last at all and it make my toes and fingers orange where I missed putting the creme that is supposed to reflect the spray. Mind you, that was the only place I even noticed color :D I tan very easy, so maybe I'm jaded. I lay out one day or go to the tanning bed one day and I am brown.

Well, my experience with "tanning" is pretty much non-existant since I'm blessed with a perpetual tan.......;) But my wife goes to some place in L'ville. She gets in this "machine" thing and it does it automatically. It looks great, although it doesn't last like uber long or anything, but it stinks to high heaven the day she gets it done. You can't take a shower afterwards either BTW, so you'll stink for a little bit. Personally, it does a million times better than doing it yourself and there is no risk of skin cancer. BTW, it doesn't turn you orange unless you don't follow the instructions and suggestions. ;)

Thanks for the input! Do you know the name of the place your wife goes to by chance?

I asked her and it's called Sun City Tanning.
It's in Lawrenceville, in the Home Depot shopping center, by the big movie theater off L'ville-Suwanee Rd and 120. :goodjob:
She suggested you go right away since you only have 2 wks to go. She said your feet will get "stained" kinda funky, but she said that a pedicure will fix that. She suggested you go once right now, and then "touch it up" just before the wedding. That way you can get your nails and pedicure done and everything will be :goodjob: . Remember to FOLLOW the directions. You'll smell funky for half a day, but it ends up looking good. She also said to hold your breath while you're in there or you will get it up your nose. :goodjob:

you can put cotton balls up your nose to the rim so you dont get it in your nose, but do hold your breath.you can also IF you really really are picky about having orange finger nails and such..color them a flat white or something so you can use running alcohol after wards and take it right off. Make sure that you get the people to explain the process to you very thoroughly or you may not get sprayed correctly..

I hear that. I need to start looking into if I want babies or not. My doctor today said I need to do it before 35 for the healthiest outcome for both me and a baby. Scary stuff. I'm old.

I know someone who had her first baby after she was 40. Don't know if I necessarily follow that logic, but it does happen. It gets harder and harder as you get older, although I bet it has been nice doing your own thing all this time.

Update: I went to the tanning salon recommended by Jaime yesterday and got the spray tan. It actually wasn't too bad. I have one spot on the back of my arm that managed to escape the tanning solution somehow but other than that it turned out pretty nice. My toes and my fingers kinda have a hint of orange though. They made me watch an instructional DVD prior to tanning and then gave me extensive directions! Pretty cool stuff! I'll definitely do it again right before my wedding! Thanks for all the input and support!

Word. Now I can go up there and see the hidden video footage........oops, my bad. JP.
That's why the wife told me to suggest to you about the manicure/pedicure thing. Get the tan, wait a day or so, then get your stuff done which in turn cleans up any of that orange residue. :goodjob:
