build the block and get a stand alone, if they problem is leaning out then maybe you need to spend the extra money on getting everything ok on the inside so you can do whatever you want to it... just my 2 cents, insurance and parts are a BIATCH! but hey its a skyline and i <3 them too... every guy wants one... but seriously... i love you car and thats saying alot since i HATE all mustangs... build it the right way

to be honest anthony.. i say stick with the mustang.. when youve put your sweat blood and tears into a car.. it becomes more than just a hobby.... believe me.. i know.

Please say you are joking about the R34. You will pay a hugely inflated price, probably double what the car is actually worth.

How much do they say you will pay? I'm not asking for the source, just a ball park figure.

oooo boss 302 baby! :D but the car is tits. if you don't get the carb i say get the block built... i mean to constantly blow it and not build it while you got the time... you might as well..

i found the R33 I love (i kno ur talkin bout R34's) for 15,999-35k the R34's i've found nice ones for 38-45k. a lil pricey but I was more lookin into a r33. I want to call DOT and see how much it is to import a Skyline from UK.

Go for it, sick cars, amazing engines. Last time I checked it was roughly $6-8k to import a car. $4k to title it. But even then most Skylines have never been crash tested and are not really legal. Certain R32's and a certain years of R33's are legal.. I will find the list somewhere but no R34's are legal to my knowledge. Sorry for writing so much but I seriously considered this a while ago.

I would love to have a car like that that turns heads but sometimes it attracts bad attention. So I'd be careful and not leave it anywhere for very long unless it was a garage.

Sounds like you don't like how it keeps breaking. Change is good.

David88vert

Ant, it's really simple. You are blowing your motors due to bad tuning if you are going lean and cooking pistons. Get a standalone like I have, rebuild the motor with some forged pistons. Also, we need to determine exactly what happened when the motor lost compression. No cracks in the block, correct? Just pistons and rings?
PM me, and I will get you a top level tuner to come here and tune your car correctly. I can help you get your car ready with checking all of the pre-tuning items, like BSFC, etc.

Ok, some of u know, but my mustang blew up again. it IS fixable. But i've done it a few times. But when will it stop? It has been the same problem every time. running lean and cooking the pistons. I've installed a completly stock motor except for the exhaust. But my decision is...fix the motor and keep on trucking with my mustang? or look into an R33 or R34 Skyline?

I know MOST of you are going to be biased towards the skyline. But remember...they are costly and parts are not that easy to get. But its what I want more than any other car in the world. Also keep in mind that this car is my heart and soul. i've put numerous hours into it...so this is a tough decision for me.

Put the Blower back on and trade me with the stock motor. I'm smelling victory here :)

Keep the Mustang.

I have to agree. The Mustang is pimp personified. Skylines are fun for a week then you'll want to get rid of it. Mustangs are also easy to resell, Skylines are not. Keep the Stang, you'll thank yourself later.

JDM is going to give you a lot of headaches whenever something breaks. I always say keep moving forward when something breaks. If the motor blows, put something better in. Why not just do a v8 swap and ditch the 6 cylinder? Insurance will still think its a v6 so you wont get as shitty of a rate.

Definately take it to another tuner if you've blown 2 motors due to running too lean. You might want to look into fueling issues too, better fuel rails or fuel pressure regulators in case each cylinder is not getting the exact same amount of fuel at WOT.

no, u shut up. :) it's not that easy anyways. I wish it was. I'd have to get all new IC pipes, and S/C bracket, 2 more injectors (can only buy in 6 or 8 that i've found), new tranny, can't use my Hurst Shortshifter anymore, and I'd have to get my driveshaft recut again.

actually i've blown 4 motors. :( :lmfao: thats what i was planning on doing in the very near future but i guess it was just too far away for the motor. it'll be back in a wee bit.

appreciate the info everyone.
