Anything out there worth it? I'm planning just to get a 2.25" custom exhaust. I currently have a AEM cai and DC header. I just don't want to be making any noise without any power gains.

Okay, but will I even notice a power gain? Don't want to waste money or make a lot of noise if I'm still gonna be lagging up this one hill in my neighborhood. :???:

You will notice a slight power gain, but not a ton. I'd say a 5 whp gain at most, if even that much. If you don't really want your car to be louder and are not after the sound of a nice exhaust then i wouldn't do it. If you're planing on doing other upgrades (turbo, etc...) later and are gonna want to make more power, then yes, its kind of a must.

If you want an exhaust that sounds good (a nice deep tone, not like a freaking bumble bee) and is not overly loud, look into a Greddy Evo exhaust (2.5 in). Thats what i have on my civic with a d16y8 in it. One of the best sounding exhausts i've heard on a civic and a lot quieter than most aftermarket exhausts. Kinda pricey though, a custom 2.5 in. probably cost you less.

he's right on the sound...you will not get a performance exhaust that's quiet...i recommend an apexi world sport 2 catback...very quiet, unless you're on the throttle...almost no cabin noise either...apexi dunk is also a nice one...never owned a greddy tho...

actually the price isn't bad...think i paid around 4ish for mine new...get a subaru and then tell me 400 is pricey..a catback exhaust for my forester is about twice that!

You cant really make a lot of power with just an exhaust with the N/A route.

^^^^yup...i/h/e MAYBE 10-15whp....a lot of money for just that much hp...assuming you get great parts for each, you're spending around 1000...

just get a ebay 2.50" exhaust cause your honestly wasting money trying to build that motor for that car lol

^^^not really...it's not incredibly fast, but my d16y8 ran a 14.6 on a 50 shot with bolt-ons...some people actually like sohc engines...i prefer dohc, but to each his own..and don't get an ebay exhaust cause it'll sound like trash...

My car is currently just built for looks, don't have the money for real power at the moment, maybe in the future. I was planning to have a nice exhaust to compliment my car's exterior. But I figured might as well gain some power. Thanks for the input guys.

I got an Invidia N1 cat back and it sounds GREAT!!! its 2.5" piping and looks amazing. as far as power gains go, it definitely has more power but its not really a seat of the pants feel. I noticed that the rpm's are lower at certain speeds. (was running at 3500-3600 rpms @ 70mph and now i can run 3250rpm's @ 70mph in 5th gear, for example) it definitely makes more power in the upper rpm's than the lower rpm's.... but maybe thats cuz i only have a cat back.....and intake....

get 2.5in exhaust dont waste your time with a 2.25in

if you plan on building your engine or swapping go with the bigger pipe.... hell...go with the bigger pipe anyways.... its worth it....

i wish i had an audio clip of my exhaust so you could hear it...... im quite impressed.

by the way ive got a d16a6 in a crx si..... stock obviously

I have custom 2.5in exhaust, and sounds really nice. Custom is the best way to go.

I have a d16y8 and I just did custom 2 1/4 piping with hi flo cat and magnaflow muffler and it sounds great, and it is a definate power gain in the mid to high rpm range.

On a D Series if its stock than i'd go with 2-2.50
Turbo or NOS + 1/2 inch

I have a World Sport on my d16y8, sounds good and give you some low and mid power.
