got a 92 civic hatch w/ a b18 ls motor w/ gsr pistons and gsr tranny. the car runs great and idles quiet and no tap, can rev the motor in neutral and no tap. with the car in gear let the clutch out and throttle just like a normal take off and there is a tapping that increases with rpm. its not terribly loud and not effecting how the car drives. i replaced the rod bearings and had the valves adjusted and niether solved the problem, where else could that tap be coming from? any bearings in the trans that could go bad and make this noise? please help

does it syop when you push the clutch in ? maybe a throwout bearing .

well it is either the t/o bearing or something with the drivetrain. maybe your cv axle? When you push in the clutch while rolling does it stop? Make sure there is nothing caught in the tread of your tire.

tap seem directly related to throttle. it decreses as the engine slows.

that didn't answer the question to, "Does it stop when you push the clutch in and you're still rolling?"
maybe you spun a main bearing since you said you only replaced the rod bearings

But wouldn't that cause it to make noise all the time? And not just tap only when on the gas?
the tapping will be more obvious and get louder as the engine speed increases, at warm idle a slight rod/crank knock would be very unapparent

the tap is non exsistant at idle. and no pushing in the clutch does not stop it. it seem directly related to drive. increase w/ throttle, decrease when decelerating and no noise at idle or nuetral reving.
hold the clutch and give it little gas, does it make noise? drive the car normally, does it still make noise? and is it louder when driving? look around the motor for some loose bolts or something, if it isnt that then it may be a internal engine problem . . who knows
